Harry walked along the edge of the lake in silence with Ginny holding his hand and watching George and Fred playing with the lake monster. Suddenly Ginny came to a halt and turned to face him. He looked in those eyes filled with sadness and knew instantly that something was wrong. He said "Ginny, whats wrong". She looked away and said, with a quiver in her voice, "Harry, I never meant to hurt you, but we just don't connect like we used to. You just don't fulfill my needs anymore". She took a deep breath and looked him in the eyes. She said "im sorry, but its over". And just like that Harry's whole world imploded.

Harry simple stared as she walked away, dumb founded, wondering what he could have possibly done to have caused this. He started to head back to his dorm room but without knowing it, his feet lead him to the library where he found Hermione studying for the upcoming herbology test. Harry sat down across from her and opened his Care of Magical Creatures Book 3 and proceeded to study Flobber Worms.

Hermione looked up and said "hi Harry how was your walk with Ginny-" but stopped when she saw his expression and said with a hint of sadness in her voice "she broke up with you didn't she"? When he nodded she came around the table and hug him. "I am so sorry but shes been talking about it for a week now. I know its difficult but in time you'll get through it.

Later when they were walking back to the common room he asked her "have you ever felt this way"? Hermione stayed silent but nodded.

That night in his dormitory while he was putting on his pajamas that he had been in that relationship fully. And he realized this was because he never really loved Ginny. He went to bed listening to Ron snoring and thinking that tomorrow was a new day.

The next day as he was walking to herbology with Hermione, Harry realized why he hadn't loved Ginny. It was because he loved Hermione. He never really realized while he was with Ginny that Hermione was beautiful, funny, smart, and especially kind. Late that night in the common room, when it was just him and her alone, he said "Hermione" and when she looked up from her homework, told her " I think the reason that Ginny broke up with me was because I wasn't fully in our relationship. And I know why I wasn't. Because im in love with you and I have been since I met you on that train". Hermione looked at him with tears in her eyes. She jumped up and hug him saying "I always loved you to Harry". They hugged each other for a very long time before Hermione took his hand and led him out of the common room.
