It's easy to believe the sweet nothings whispered in your ear in the dead of the night. The three-oh-so-carelessly thrown around words that he murmurs lazily as your legs are entwined and his hands are tangled in your hair. He tells you that he's got eyes only for you and you believe him…because…why shouldn't you?

But the cracks soon appear in the seemingly perfect tableau; the threads unraveling right at your feet. And in the blink of an eye you go from being the only two people with a perfect future ahead of them to two strangers without an intertwined past.

He sleeps in your bed reeking of another's and you lie awake picking up the shattered pieces of your heart. And it is just easy-simply too easy- to come crashing down to the ground. Before you even realize it, you recognize the perfume on his body, the scarlet on his collar…and in one horrific moment you are aware of a double betrayal.

The whispers you one lived by now morph into lies, stinging your already aching heart.
The promises once tenderly made now find themselves heartlessly broken.
