A/N: I wrote this as part of a Jily challenge I'm doing on Tumblr...it's supposed to be graphics for each day, but since I'm a writer and not a photoshop-pro, I'm adapting it a bit. Enjoy!

Lily raced through the crowds at King's Cross, blatantly ignoring her mother's anxious voice calling for her to slow down. She dodged luggage carts, old ladies with canes, and crying children, never taking her eyes off the large Platform 9 and 10 signs. She knew where she was going because Severus told her, of course, but she had to see it to believe it.

As she finally approached her destination, she turned to make sure her family was keeping up when —WHAM— she slammed right into a boy waiting his turn to enter the platform.

"Oi!" he turned, rubbing his head. "Look where you're going!"

"You're blocking my way!" she snapped in return.

Lily stood nose to nose with the boy, inspecting the creature that was rude enough to prolong her from reaching the Hogwarts Express. His hazel eyes were magnified by large square glasses with thick frames, which were partly obstructed by his unruly black hair. He furiously swiped at his hair as it continued to cover his eyes. He was thin and scrawny, but tall, too; he towered over Lily when he stood to his full height. At eleven, Lily was tiny, but not in spirit. She stood chest to chest with the foul scrawny boy and prepared to yell at him some more when her parents finally approached the platform entrance.

"Lily, move along now. You're going to miss your train," Lily's mother scolded.

At the reminder of the magical train, Lily's anger flooded away to be replaced with the familiar excitement she had been feeling all week. She pushed her way past the boy and stuck her tongue out at him before running quickly through the barrier onto Platform 9 and 3/4.

She was leading her parents toward the steaming scarlet engine when she spotted the familiar head of dark hair standing with his sour-faced mother. She hurried over to Severus, relieved that she had found him on the crowded platform.

They both hugged their parents and whispered goodbyes. Despite Lily's excitement, she was terrified to leave them. She resisted the sudden urge to cry until she turned to Petunia, who stood behind their father, a strange look of fear, anger, and awe etched onto her thin face.

She had given up on her relationship with Petunia, but a glimmer of hope remained that perhaps Lily's impending departure would turn Petunia's attitude around.

"Tuney?" she whispered. "Will you write me?"

For one brief moment, Lily thought she saw something in her sister's eyes soften. Severus came up behind Lily then and her eyes flashed to his face before she huffed and walked away, muttering "freak" under her breath.

Lily blinked away the tears as she said one more goodbye to her parents and climbed aboard the train.

As they made their way through the crowded train cars, it became clear that most compartments were already full. They came to one that looked to have some extra room, but Lily froze when she saw who was inside.

The foul boy from King's Cross sat with his feet propped up on the seat, twirling his wand with one hand and shoving candy into his mouth with the other. The boy opposite him was laughing, his handsome features evident despite his youth. His long hair was just as dark in color as the other boy's, but it fell in controlled waves that framed his face. The room was also occupied by a somewhat chubbier boy, who was attempting to read a book as the handsome boy repeatedly threw things at him. The fourth boy snoozed quietly, his pale face twitching as he slept. Lily couldn't imagine sleeping through such chaos and excitement!

She turned to Severus and sighed as she reached to open the door. "Looks like it's going to be a long year."
