50 years ago the Capitol fell to the hands of the Mockingjay, there was peace through out the great national of Panem. Great wire fences that separated the people into 12 different Districts were pulled down and for the first time in our history unity could be felt between it's people. The first proper government was installed and peace and prosperity ruled the land for almost 25 years.

Then came the fire. President Coriolanus Snow had a granddaughter Arianna that with an army of former Capitolites decided it was time to avenge old granddad. The government had destroyed all weapons known to them to prevent any more uprisings and were left defenceless. Arianna became President and regained control over Panem; rebuilding fences, murdering the Mockingjay and most frightening of all reinstating the infamous Hunger Games.

Of course I was never alive to see all of this. The elders of our District think that it is important to teach the young people about our nations history. They tell us it carves us into who we are and defines what we are and what we want to be. And all of that history is the exact reason why I am waiting in line with hundreds of other terrified children waiting to be escorted to their possible death, all of that history is why the Capitol still hold these sinister Games and that is why my name is in that glass bowl 29 times.
