Ron and Hermoine were walking through the Chamber of Secrets. Everything was a little too quiet and awkward after Hermoine praised Ron for using the whole parseltongue thing.

"That was still brilliant…I'm surprised you still remember how it sounded like…"

"Um…ya, thanks."

More awkward silence.

"I wonder where Harry is now?"

"Probably wondering where the bloody hell we are…we did leave him quite sudden…"

And again…awkward silence.

"U-ummm…Ron…are you a little worried about wh-what might happen to us?" The two stopped and Ron looked at the girl confusingly.

" 'What might happen to us?' Hermoine…what do you mean?"

"I-it's just that…if You-Know-Who or one of the Death Eaters in the battle…well…" She couldn't say it. It was too much for her to bear. She hasn't even told him her feelings yet. Suddenly, arms wrapped around Hermoine in a tight embrace.

"Nothing will…I'll make bloody damn sure of it…even if I die trying." Hermoine couldn't take it…she wanted to cry right there and then, but she held it in. She made herself look at him. Red hair…and freckles…God, he was gorgeous.

"I heard you."

"What?"

"When you were screaming my name…at the manor…it was the only thing that helped me stay alive…"

"Hermoine…"

"When I screamed…half of it was in pain…but the other half was…was to hear your voice…"

"I was a fool…a complete fool last year not to have noticed that you were hurt because of me…a complete git…"

"Ron…please…let me finish." Ron closed his mouth and looked deep into her eyes. He knew they were glistening with tears, but that made them all the more extraordinary.

"I should have told you w-when I had the chance…" Hermoine's voice started to crack and choke, "but the truth…oh, I love you, Ron!" That did it…tears were streaming down the witch's face…unable to stop. Then, Ron took her chin in his hands and put his face close to hers, brushing tears off of her cheek, calming her sobs.

"I do to…and I swear I'll protect you till the day I die…whether it'd be now, or years to come." He leaned in, and kissed her.

Oh…

My…

God…they both thought.

After about five minutes, they pulled away. Grins from ear to ear appeared on both of their faces.

"You are a really good kisser." She giggled.

"You're not so bad yourself."

"And what's that suppose to mean?" Ron leaned in to give Hermoine a quick kiss.

"Well, you can kiss me all of the time for improvement. Now, let's find that basilisk fang, shall we?" Hermoine laughed as Ron took her hand and they ran down the tunnel, stopping for air and a few kisses in between every now and then.
