Remember
Mary couldn't forget her past; all she could see were yellow eyes and a taunting smirk that woke her up screaming. John promises to protect her, and while she knows the truth about what's out there, she begins to believe him. Then the bundle is placed in her arms, she can't help but remember the departing, pleading words of the stranger. Hardened emerald eyes that have seen too much in a lifetime stare back through this baby's eye, but wide and innocent.
