Bruce's Story

Rebecca Banner frowned and winced as she heard her husband hit their four year old child again and again. She so wanted to go to him and protected their Robert from Brian but she couldn't.

A hand wrapped around her hand and Rebecca, shocked and scared, pushed the other person away and started to move backwards.

"It's okay, I'm here to show you something, that's all" said the young woman in front of Rebecca. Rebecca glared.

"Show me what?!" she whispered harshly, in case her husband heard.

"Your son's future" said the woman, and she stood straight up, and held her hand out, "if you want."

"Is it good? Better than this?" asked Rebecca. She knew that she didn't believe in any of this, and if she had a concussion there was nothing she could do until her husband checked her out.

She peered closer to the woman. She was in a uniform that Rebecca didn't know (not that she was allowed to eat fast food) and saw that her name tag said Loretta.

"Yes" said Loretta. Rebecca grabbed Loretta's hand and the colours around them twisted and twirled until they landed in a spacious room.

"Where are we?" Rebecca asked, looking around.

"New York" Loretta asked, "watch, Bruce's teammates will be coming in soon."

"Bruce? His name is Robert" said Rebecca.

"He changed his name to his middle name" replied Loretta as three people walked into the room. Rebecca recognised one at once.

"Is that ... Captain America?" she asked in awe as the blonde icon grabbed a magazine from a table in what looked to be the living area. The red head and other man sat down on the sofa while Captain America flicked through the magazine.

"Anything good on?" asked the other guy, a bow resting on his thighs.

"Erm, nope" sighed Captain America.

"That's Steve, yes Captain America, Natasha and Clint" informed Loretta. Another two men entered.

"That's Thor and Tony Stark" said Loretta. Rebecca's eyes widened. The last time she had heard of Anthony Stark was when he was four years old.

Another man came running in, fixing his glasses.

"Robert" whispered Rebecca, seeing her baby boy in this man.

"Hey Brucey" cheered Tony as Bruce sat down next to him.

"Have we decided on a film yet?" asked Bruce.

"Not yet" said Steve, throwing the magazine back onto the table and claiming a chair for himself.

"JARVIS, pick a movie so we don't have to. Something different" said Tony.

"Certainly Sir" said a voice, Rebecca tried to not freak out, and a film called Moana started playing.

"Disney" said Tony, shocked, "I wasn't even aware that I had that on my player."

"You bought it for my kids" said Clint, rubbing his neck.

"Oh yeah. Well, lets see what this is about" laughed Tony, flinging an arm around Bruce.

"He's happy?" Rebecca asked, shocked but happy.

"As happy as he could be in his situation" replied Loretta, "he's part of team of superheroes. That team. They all live here, apart from Clint, and work really well together. Your son is a hero."

A flash of light, and Rebecca found herself on her kitchen floor. Her husband stormed past, muttering about a strip club. He left and Rebecca went upstairs. Her son was sleeping, or unconscious, she couldn't tell but she still held him and sung him a lullaby.

She felt at peace knowing that her son would grow up to become the hero, instead of a villain like many kids in their situation.
