Innes had survived a lot. He had withstood betrayl from Carcino forces. He's survived more than his fair share of undead attacks. He's even lived through an evening with L'archel, as tough as that was. But even Innes realized this may be his last day on earth. He was currently standing face to face with Ephraim, but it wasn't exactly what was happening, but rather why. Since the buffoon of a Renias royal didn't know how to knock before entering someone else's room, he caught Innes and Eirika in a... less than decent state. They were both clothed, of course. Not fully clothed, but Innes hoped the other prince wouldn't be one to bother with the details.
Perhaps he could play it off like it was an accident. Yeah, that'll work. 'Oh, I just happened to see that Eirika had a piece of food wedged in her teeth, so I thought I'd lick it off her while she didn't have a shirt on.' Innes knew Ephraim wasn't an idiot.
Perhaps he could play it rough? 'Yeah, I was making out with your sister. What the hell are you gonna do about it?' No, that wouldn't work either. While that approach might work for now, it would ruin any chance for a permanent relationship.
After several more options came up and were shot down in his head (all of which were thought out in a few split seconds), Innes realized the answer. They do say honesty is the best policy...
"I was making out with Eirika while groping her breast."
Ephraim looked at Innes for a few seconds, his face going through multiple shades of red.
The next thing Innes saw was a blue haired angel looking down on him.
"Damn. Guess I went too far."
The angel chuckled, causing Innes to realize that this was NOT an angel, he was NOT dying, and he WAS looking like a complete fool.
"Eirika?"
She smiled, "The one and only."
Innes put his hand on his head, only to feel a bandage soaked with blood.
"What happened?"
Eirika sighed, "After your lovely choice of words, Ephraim slammed the pole of his lance across your head. You've been out for about... ten? Maybe twenty minutes?"
Innes muttered under his breath, "Maybe I really should shut up sometimes..."
Eirika cocked an eyebrow, "What?"
Innes shook his head, "Nothing. So I'm guessing that since you and I are alone in the same room..."
Eirika nodded, "He's fine with us. It's strange though. Why would he allow us together so easily? His only reason was that it was 'fair enough'."
Innes shrugged, "I suppose it doesn't matter. What does matter is that our relationship is no longer secret. Which means I can do THIS without fear of consequence..."
He leaned over and kissed Eirika until they both were out of breath. While Innes was concerned about why Ephraim allowed it so easily, that was not important right now.
It had been a really long day for Tana. She'd been out all day, unable to get a moments rest from post-war negotiations and such. So now she can enjoy a nice hot bath, uninterrupted by-
*KNOCK KNOCK*
"It's Ephraim!"
... By anyone.
"Ephraim, I'm taking a bath."
"Oh really?"
He then walked in her bathroom, "Can I join you?"
Her face grew red, "If Innes catches you here..."
"Something tells me he'll deal with it."
