She lied the mission hadn't been easy.
The whole time she felt her legs shaking in fear as she tried her hardest to concentrate. She wanted to do her best for him. And after everything is done she gives him the report smiling brightly (because she heard somewhere that people like smiles) detailing everything because Lauro-Kun is very precise; so to make him happy she must be as well
But he doesn't even notice.
He looks at her (through her) and as usual he just shrugs off everything Elsa's been saying then continues whatever pointless task he'd been up too. (Uncaring, unmoved). And later as she cleans her rifle she thinks about it and her chest starts to ache. She is confused by this because she completed her mission without sustaining injury yet still it hurts (she hurts). And whenever she thinks of Lauro it only gets worst.
When she learns that they are to be partnered with Henrietta and Jose she wonders for a second if the rumors are true. That Jose spoils her with gifts and surprise trips, and even takes Henrietta on rides in his car. She hears that he treats her like a real sister. And deep down Elsa thinks it's absolutely foolish (wonderful).
Lauro has never given her gifts or taken her out, or done any of the things Jose does for Henrietta and because of this she is thankful (jealous). Instead of wasting time on things like that he makes Elsa train so she can be the best, and she is, and even though he doesn't show it she's sure (but not very) that he's proud. She doesn't need (but wants) trinkets from her supervisor because their relationship isn't based off material things she loves Lauro for Lauro. And Lauro loves…….
She's never liked Henrietta but that night after a short conversation she's comes to respect her. She will do anything for Jose just like she will do anything for Lauro. She understands Elsa's devotion and her need to please him her supervisor for Henrietta would do the exact same for Jose.
She's been watching them secretly ever since they left the compound noticing both the private and public displays of affection. She even hears as Jose whispers the promise to take her out for ice-cream after the mission is completed. As they set up Jose is gentle and kind as he preps Henrietta. It is such an unfamiliar site to Elsa that she loses tracks of everything else; completely mesmerized by the kindness she's never experienced. Lauro has never done any of these things for her. In fact he's never bothered to congratulate her on a job well done or even smiled.
Excluding her from the assassination is the final straw.
The reality of her life has at long last revealed itself; and slapped her in the face. She was a tool, something to used and thrown away when done. Not loved or cared for just a meaningless pawn, Lauros' pawn…
She asks him to walk with her one night and surprisingly enough he complies with her request. They travel to the place where she first found purpose and love, where her very existence began and he doesn't remember.
It meant nothing to him, she meant nothing to him. He'd given her a name and nothing more.
Lauro is already dead before she realizes what she's done and as shock starts to set in the gun still smoking in her hand; tells her there is more to be done.
He was her everything, she lived for him, and only him but now he was dead and that meant, there was only one choice left for her.
She stares into the barrel of the gun; looking for answers, looking for peace but sadly the only light at the end of this tunnel is really a bullet waiting to be fired.
End.
