Renji looked at his captain, who was currently standing with his back towards the redhead, gazing out through the big window in the sixth division office.
Without turning around the raven haired man spoke. "I'll leave the search under your command."
Renji looked down and sighed, he had seen this coming, though he wasn't that pleased by the order.
"Something wrong?" Byakuya asked, though he honestly didn't sound like he cared.
Renji sighed a little again before looking up at the Kuchiki heir and swallowing before uttering his thought. "Captain, how're you going to handle this problem?"
The raven turned his head just a bit to glance at the redhead through the corner of his eye. "What are you talking about?"
Renji's eyebrows furrowed at the indifference in his captain's voice. "Ichigo and Rukia, of course!" he exclaimed.
He closed the distance between himself and the wooden desk with determined steps and angrily slammed his palm down onto the smooth surface. "There HAS to be some kind of explanations for their actions, they'd NEVER do something like this without a good reason!"
Byakuya didn't even blink at the redhead's outburst, he was well used to those by now. "And what if they did?" he said calmly. "I have no sympathy for anyone who chooses to defy orders that come from the Soul Society."
Renji scowled at him. "But your sister..."
Byakuya slowly turned around and looked him into the eyes. "I stand by what I said. I expect you to personally head up the search parties."
The tattoed Soul Reaper scowled again, but then his expression changed to one of realisation and surprise. "You're putting me in charge of everything related to this search?" he asked while staring at the raven.
Byakuya turned away and continued looking out through the window, not responding to the question. He didn't need to either, since Renji knew he had come to the right conclusion.
Renji straightened and smiled. "Understood sir. I'll take command of squad six and begin to conduct a thorough sweep immediately." He bowed and started running towards the door. Before reaching it though he turned around and approached the captain instead.
He placed a quick kiss on the other Soul Reaper's cheek and smiled. "Thank you." Then he raced out the door and Flashstepped through the corridor.
Byakuya didn't move at the sudden kiss, nor did he react at all when his lieutenant closed the door with a loud bang. He just continued gazing through the window at the blue sky, a small smile on his lips.
