My apologies for the poor title, but I was really struggling, and wanted to get this up before I forgot about it yet again. This is probably something that has been done countless times, but I hope you enjoy it nonetheless!
Kenpachi stared at the eager looking Shinigami in front of him thoughtfully, his eyes narrowed. So that was it...the reason for all the unexplained disappearances, the times he returned from battle looking healthier than when he went. The pretty-boy fifth seat had a Kidou Zanpaktou.
It had always seemed odd that someone so seemingly delicate, so...Yumichika, had found their way into a squad dominated by scarred, muscle-bound meat heads, but he had never questioned it. Yumichika could fight, and that was all Kenpachi cared about. It didn't matter that he spent half the day preening himself, because when he finally got out there he could beat most of the squad hands down, and even give Ikkaku a run for his money.
Even so, Kidou was weak. It had its uses, of course. Most of his squad wouldn't be there if it wasn't for the runts in fourth squad, but it had no place in his squad, where if you want to fight, you fight with your own strength and wits, not magic. It was a problem that would have to be dealt with, but for now, Kenpachi had more pressing matters to deal with.
It was over in a second, a lightening fast flick of his blade and the rat before him crumpled, his chest open and spewing blood. There was no room in his squad for snitches, no man should gain from another's punishment and in Kenpachi's eyes it was one of the highest forms of cowardice, one of the things he despised the most. If you had a problem with a comrade then you should sort it out the old, honest way, with sword and skill, not by sneaking around hoping that those more powerful would sort out your problems.
Now that the immediate problem was out of the way Kenpachi turned his mind back to Yumichika. It was true that a Kidou weapon in a fighting squad was a problem... but... there was something else that had just occurred to him.
Yumichika was a fifth seat, potentially higher if he didn't allow his vanity to get in the way, with a weakened Zanpaktou. What would he be like at full strength?
A glint found its way into Kenpachi's eye and he straightened, striding purposefully towards the courtyard roaring, "Yumichika!"
Perhaps it didn't matter. This was Yumichika after all, and he had always been rather...unconventional.
Please let me know what you think...feedback is very encouarging. ^_^
