John was pleased that Dean had quieted Sam. His big brother had quite the influence after all. Now John could focus on the needs of his eldest.

He's had a tough time of it lately, Mary always in his mind and lingering doubts of raising his boys knowing there's creatures out there that would tear the three of them apart.

Dean coughed, restless in sleep and John could only hope the drugs would kick in soon. He was so proud of him, kissed his feverish cheek before settling down, intent on watching over him for the remainder of the night.
