Uchiha Sasuke had not had a good day. His violin teacher had called in sick two days before he had to perform. His USB, which contained assignments due in the next day, had mysteriously disappeared (Sasuke suspected fangirl activity). Work had called in to say that he wouldn't be needed this week, which meant trying to survive the next seven days with no money. The traffic was bad. It was raining. He couldn't get his hair to do that flicky thing that he loved so much. Needless to say, Sasuke was pissed off and wanted nothing more than to sit down and watch the news with a nice cup of tea.
Uzumaki Naruto had had a fantastic day. He had slept in until 11am, seeing as he had no morning classes. He practiced for a couple of hours before heading off to his lesson, where his teacher had commented on the high level of his playing. He had received top marks in his composition assignment. The rain was nourishing his little garden out the back of the house. All in all, he was looking forward to getting home and catching up with Sasuke.
As Naruto jumped off the bus (he took public transport to avoid the rush hour traffic) and headed towards the apartment, he saw Sasuke get out of his car, pick up all of his things, try to find his keys, drop all of his things, swear, try to pick up his things while opening the door, and swear again. Naruto decided that he might want a little help.
"Eyop, Sasuke!" Naruto said, beaming. "Do you need some help?"
Sasuke looked up only to glare at him (the effect of the glare was minimal due to Sasuke's wet fringe plastered to his forehead, making him look like a drowned puppy).
"What are you so ecstatic about, dobe?" Sasuke sneered, successfully managing to open the door.
"It's the end of the day, I'm at home with my most favouritist person in the world: life is good." Naruto said, following Sasuke into the house, Sasuke's violin case and folders in hand. He dumped them in the bedroom, watching Sasuke peal off his sopping clothes. Naruto thought it would be nice to bring Sasuke a towel, so he did. Sasuke snorted as he handed it to him.
"I think," Sasuke muttered, drying his hair, "I've had the worst day possible. And it's raining. Life is not good."
He picked up the pile of sopping clothes and, clad only in the towel, moved o the bathroom. Naruto followed obediently.
"Don't be depressing, Sasuke," Naruto berated, hopping up on the bathroom counter as Sasuke began to run a bath, "Your day can't have been that bad."
Sasuke decided no to answer, and left the room, which left Naruto perched on the counter, trying to think of ways to alleviate the frosty atmosphere. He was so wrapped up in his thoughts that he forgot the bath was still running – Sasuke swooped in, now armed with a cup of tea, and turned the taps off quickly.
"Dobe." Sasuke breathed, setting down the mug on the edge of the bath and climbing in unconcernedly naked. He sighed a sigh of relief and submerged himself quickly in the hot water, grateful to be warm again. Naruto stayed worryingly silent on the other side of the room. Sasuke sighed once more.
"Dobe," Sasuke murmured, "get in."
Naruto obliged silently, shedding his clothes and slipping into the bath, not meeting Sasuke's eyes.
"Naruto," Sasuke said, "I'm sorry."
Naruto's head snapped up and he suddenly beamed, launching himself at Sasuke and kissing him hard on the mouth. Sasuke wrapped his arms around Naruto's waist, smiling against the other's lips.
"You were right, Naruto," Sasuke conceded, as Naruto settled between his legs and looked at him questioningly, "Life is good."
