Fen turned his head as he heard Baldwin coming back down the stairs.

He had been sitting around awkwardly after Baldwin and Laurie had gone upstairs. Well, if you could consider sitting for a couple minutes at a time before getting up to pace "sitting around".

He didn't really feel comfortable enough around the Ray and Reyna to engage in conversation like Matt was, and Fen felt incredibly awkward just sitting there.

Fen was relieved when Baldwin asked if he could help him put the frozen pizzas in the oven.

Fen followed Baldwin into the kitchen, pizza in hand, as the twins's and Thorsen's voices faded into an incomprehensible blur.

….

As Fen slid the last pizza into the oven, Bladwin spoke up behind him.

"I couldn't help but notice how close you and Laurie are."

Fen turned, his hands still on the pizza in the oven as he cocked an eyebrow at Baldwin.

"So what?"

Baldwin's face suddenly flushed, and he looked away from Fen awkwardly.

"I uh, just thought you guys were a thing or uh.. Something..."

Fen jerked back in surprise, his hands slipping out from under the pizza and up onto the hot metal of the stove.

"We're cousins." Fen stuttered awkwardly after swearing quietly about his slightly burnt arm.

Baldwin dragged the other boy to the sink, not daring to look him in the eye.

"Oh. Sorry."

As Fen ran cold water over his burn, the two boys agreed to never speak of this again.
