Fight Like a Girl

Olivia entered the locker room after coming back from seeing Ashley.

I fight like a girl who refuses to be a victim.

She took off her work clothes and put on her shorts and tank top, ignoring the bruises on her body.

I fight like a girl who is tired of being ignored and humored and beaten and raped.

She wrapped her hands and proceeded into the gym.

I fight like a girl who's sick of not being taken seriously.

Olivia swung her arms as she walked toward the heavy bag to stretch them out.

I fight like a girl who's been pushed too far.

With a grunt, she swung at the bag, hitting it full force with her right fist.

I fight like a girl who offers and demands respect.

She swung again, and again, and again, and again…

I fight like a girl who has a lifetime of anger and strength and pride pent up in her girly body.

Tears pooled in her eyes as she continued to hit the bag, never faltering, never failing.

I fight like a girl who doesn't believe in fear and submission.

Thoughts of Harris ran through her head as she pounded the bag.

I fight like a girl who knows that this body and this mind are mine!

Tears ran down her cheeks as she remembered the feel of him against her.

I fight like a girl who knows that you only have as much power as I grant you!

She imagined his face on the bag she was pulverizing. The tears slowed.

I fight like a girl who will never allow you to take more than I offer.

Olivia's blows finally slowed. Her tears stopped. She stepped back from the bag.

I fight like a girl who fights back.

She turned and walked back to the locker room, covered in perspiration.

So next time you think you can distract yourself…

She unwrapped her hands and tended to her bloody knuckles.

From your insecurities…

She changed into a clean set of clothes.

By victimizing a girl, THINK AGAIN.

Olivia pulled her shoes on and straightened up.

She may be me.

Letting out a sigh, Olivia walked out of the locker room.

And I FIGHT LIKE A GIRL!

A/N: Hope you like it. I wrote it at like 12:30 AM so the spelling or grammar may not be so good. But let me know what you think, please!
