Bones rushed into Booth's office, an elated expression on her normally serious face.
"Booth, I've decided to get a pet kitten!" She declared Bones. "Will you help me pick one?"
Booth looked doubtfully at his partner.
"You sure, Bones?" "Have you ever had a cat before?"
"No," she replied, "But I've heard that they are an excellent way to reduce stress levels for those with busy lifestyles such as myself. Will you help me pick one?"
"I guess so…" he found himself saying.
She acted with childlike enthusiasm to the plaintive 'Meow's of each kitten at the shelter.
"Ohhhh Booth, look at THAT one!" She would practically shriek, clutching his arm as she was overwhelmed by the cuteness. Booth wasn't nearly as excited, he was more of a dog person, but her clutching his arm was better than 'Ok' and he soon got caught up in the moment and would grin widely at her as she saw another kitten that she simply had to take home.
Eventually she narrowed her choices down to three kittens, all playful, cute bundles of fur.
"Bones, will you have time to look after one?" He asked, concerned that her 'Busy lifestyle' would impinge on the kitten's upbringing.
She turned to him with a fifty-million watt smile ad he was forced to swallow his words
"Of course.. You will.. Why did I even ask?" He stuttered.
Two hours later, Bones had finally made her decision, a little male-white with black and orange spots.
"Do you have a name for him, then?" asked a motherly- looking volunteer as she handed over a basic care manual and a colourful assortment of cat accessories.
"His name is Booth, " She declared proudly.
"What??" Spluttered a tired and slightly grumpy Booth. "Why the hell are you naming it after me? (He already knew the answer that he wanted..)

Ending 1
"Well… I don't actually know.." pondered Bones. "I guess it was the first name that came to mind.." she concluded.
"Not because you love me?" Booth asked, just a tad too jokingly.
"I already told you, there is no such thing as love, Booth." She reprimanded him sternly.
"It's simply the release of endorphins.." he cut her off.
"I know, Bones, I know."
Ending 2
"Because I love you, and need something that reminds me of you around me constantly…" Confessed Bones in a rushed whisper, looking at him through her long lashes, reinforcing the fact that subtlety had never been her strong point.
"Wow. What do I say to that?" Booth whispered back, a grin fast appearing on his face.
"Nothing.." she said and pulled him towards her giving him a gentle kiss.
The motherly figure looked vaguely amused and out of place as she cleared her throat… "Ahemmm…"
Booth and Bones sprang apart, grinning guiltily and sprinted out the door of the animal shelter, one of Bone's hands holding the tiny kitten, the other tightly clutched in Booths.
