Dreams

Ken sat in his station in the digital world thinking about his problems. It had all started
out simple enough. Taking over the digital world was another goal that seemed to be worthy
of him. Yet after the countless battles and adversaries that appeared against him, he still
wanted something more. Staring up at the ceiling he wondered if it would ever be possible.
"It will never happen..." he muttered to himself.
As if in response to his statement, his voice echoed through his dark throne. The rain
outside was starting to pour down as his base continued moving through the skies. He heard
the wind and the noise that always seemed to haunt his dreams and waking life. There was no
way he would join them. He had a higher purpose then just simply being a mere child bond down
by its rules. Time was not on his side as he thought about his plans. Yet he always found his
mind wandering back to the one topic that he wanted to avoid. It was unfair that his genus be
wasted on such an irreverent topic. He sighed and walked over to his computer.
Turning it on he stared at the glowing screens above him and wondered if they would be in the
digital world tonight. He knew that he could never depend on anyone except himself. His own
parents had also failed him on rare occasions. Although he knew they fed and clothed him,
they were just someone to repay when he was older. Wealth didn't really appeal to him as much
as the sense of power that came from knowledge. He sighed when another image of the face
appeared in his mind. 'Why must they interrupt my plans when I'm so close?' He thought.
This image caught his eye and he could only stare. Something that would make tonight more
interesting. He saw them, his rivals. They were the only thing in his way preventing him from
truly owning the digital world and everything in it. His heart skipped a beat when he saw her
on one of the screens. For a moment he was taken back by how she looked. He was in love.
She looked like an angel. Something that was both haunting and beautiful at the same time.
As the group continued walking he starting hearing what they said. Things about soccer games
and school, until he thought he heard someone calling her by a name.
