Living the dream
Disclaimer: I don't own the Gundam!
"Heero! Going there might not help! Don't you think we should concentrate in national security more? I think …." Relena went off into the kitchen leaving her guest behind in the hall. It's been awhile since she moved into this huge castle near the beach. One might ask 'what's the point of giving a whole castle to a girl in her mid twenties?' Well, ask the citizens! Obviously the place has got servants to take care of her. But Miss Peacecraft prefers to at least cook for herself and her guests whenever she can! As for today, it's not a guest she welcomes everyday.
"Wonder what I could make…." she thought. "Heero?"
"Yeah?" he answered softly behind her ears.
"eeek! Don't creep in like that!" she jumped back in surprise. Heero simply shrugged "thought you were a lot braver than that." He pulled out a hand from his pocket and grabbed an apple from one of the baskets near by. "You don deserve this place" he took a bite.
"I think so too." She was still holding her throbbing heart but her expression reflected sadness.
"just kidding" he walked past her towards the stove. "what's cooking?" he said in between his bites.
The girl smiled "what do you want cooking?"
He finished his apple and looked up at her face for the first time after entering the kitchen. "can I cook?"
"depends if you can" she smirked.
"you wana bet?" his tone was challenging and face, expressionless.
"sure. Whoever wins gets a wish granted." She folded up her arms as she smirked.
"except the wish of agreeing to anything that has to do with our office work." He said smugly.
"deal. Pagan, bring us the ingredients and start the stopwatch!" she called out.
"aren't you lazy?" the smug expression only intensifying this time.
"say, what!" she almost frowned.
"nothing." He smirked.
"I came here for a far important reason than a cooking competition. Ah… but let's see if there's any chance of altering the decision…" he thought, bearing his eyes on the floor.
"Heero… I'm still confused as to if I'm right… I'll wait some more…" she smiled and thought.
Relena steadily walked up to him and grabbed his right hand out of his pocket. He was too late to cover his surprise when she held it closer to her eyes, peering at it closely.
"how many times have I told you not to fight?" she was slightly angry now with her eyes closed.
He shook his head quickly but failed to speak up to support. She's too good…
She opened her eyes to glare at him.
"how'd you find out?" he couldn't hide his surprise totally. I never took this hand out of my pocket once around her or even inn this castle…
"it's the longest time I've seen you keep both of your hands to yourself. Especially the right." She looked away from him, frowning.
"Relena?" he said it ever so softly in a tone he's never spoken before.
She was astounded at the sudden change in tone she's never heard Heero use before. She turned around only to be hugged by the guy she's wished to be hugged by all her life. The shock was so great that she couldn't move her arms to hug him back until the 2nd minute.
"Relena, do you think I'd be asking too much if I want to borrow your peace 24/7 from now?" he spoke as he held her close into his chest.
"Not at all." She smiled with eyes welling in tears. "The peace would never come if you had never lent me the hope in the first place." A tear rolled down her cheek onto his shirt.
She raised her head to look into his eyes. "I love you, Heero."
He didn't say anything in reply but she understood. His eyes reflected the selfless tender that, she knew, had always been there… only to be disguised by the wrath of the wars and battles he'd been though.
Words needn't to be said out aloud if he's around, she could tell…
