When he got home, the scent of freshly baked goods immediately overwhelmed him. He tiptoed into the kitchen and saw her covered from head to toe in flour, face scrunched up in serious concentration, whipping another batch when the counter was already filled with what looks like ten trays of cookies. He was almost afraid to ask, but did it anyway. " Hey Blondie, what's wrong?"

She looked up and Eugene noticed a hint of irritation in her eyes. " Wrong? Nothing's wrong. Everything's fine, just..." She bit her lip and turned her gaze downwards. " Just perfectly fine. Go have a cookie or something." He frowned and walked over to her, hands reached out to grab her into a hug. She resisted at first, mumbling something about not wanting to get his clothes dirty, but gave in with a sigh in the end, with her own hands hung limply at her sides and her head slumped heavily against his chest. They just stood there like that for a while, breathing together and not talking.

" Better?" He questioned and she nodded. " So...what's with the stress baking?"

She whispered something into his shirt but he couldn't hear her. " Umm, Punzie, you need to speak up, I can't..."

" I'm late, Eugene."

" What do you mean..." Then it hit him. Oh. Oh.

The conversation came to a pregnant pause. Oh god. Now is definitely not the time for bad puns, Eugene thought to himself. " How long?"

" A week and a half. And my body's been weird lately. I threw up all morning today."

Eugene felt like throwing up too. He briefly wondered if there was such a thing as sympathy morning sickness. " I think we need to sit down and talk about this."

Rapunzel's eyes watered. " I'm so sorry. I should have been more careful with the pills. I don't mean to force this on you." She choked out a cry. " I'm not ready for this."

Eugene never seen her break down before. She's usually so together and sure of herself. It terrified him a little. " Hey, hey." He stroked her hair gently. " I'm not mad, okay? Scared as hell, sure, but I'm not angry at you. None of this is your fault." He forced her to look him in the eye before he continued. " Whatever decision you make, I'll support you. We'll work it out. I promise."

His words seemed to calm her down. She wiped away her tears with her apron, leaving streaks of flour on her cheek. " So, what now?"

" Let's just take this one step at a time." He pressed a kiss on her forehead. " We can start with getting rid of..." He eyed the piles of cookies warily. " ...all of that. How do you feel about having cookies for dinner?"

It's been a while since I wrote for the Tangled fandom and it was really fun to write for these characters again :) Did anyone catch the Pushing Daisies reference? ^^
