Okay, okay, I had this crazy idea last night when the stupid sky began throwing lightning but with no matching rain. I always love the rain.^^.Just sharing! A little NaruSaku drabble after a dreadful first week of being a sophomore!
EDIT- I tried to make this one a little bit longer. I thank Isabella-chan again for the tip.
With a Flash of Lightning
She could feel herself soaked to the skin as the two of them ran on a stormy afternoon. Though it was dark as night, she could tell it was still early by looking at her watch.
Her teammate was with her, his spiky blonde hairdo all messed up by the rain.
They ran through the wet streets, ignoring the fact that their bright-colored heads seemed to be out of place in the group of black umbrellas.
The drops of rain began to get bigger and bigger by the minute. The wind blew as hard as it could, making them both shiver in response. It was a good thing that Sakura wore her jeans instead of the typical mini skirt.
She felt her wrist being held. Naruto ran faster as he pulled her. They made big slashes as they passed through large puddles.
Confused, she asked why the sudden change of speed.
"We're almost there, Sakura-chan," he answered.
He had taken her to the nearest bus stop to take cover.
"We should be safe here for while," he panted.
She could feel Naruto's heavy breathing, his chest moving in accordance. His orange shirt drenched, making some of the lines of his body visible. Though the weather is cold, she could sense the warmth from his hand penetrating through her pale porcelain skin.
The sky continued to be wild as it threw its anger with the furious wind, heavy rain, and the horrifying lightning and thunder.
The crowd of people began to decrease as they started to get shelter in their homes. One by one, they went in until the two teammates were the only ones left outside.
She crossed her arms, shivering. "It's cold…"
"Sakura-chan…"
"What's the matter?"
"I'm sorry... We shouldn't be together... like this..."
"Naruto…"
What he said was true. She was paired with Sasuke. And he was with Hinata. But it didn't felt right.
She bit her lower lip and held her breath. "No... I-it's alright. It's not your fault."
"I'm sorry," he repeated.
It hurts when he blames himself. She could feel her heart aching.
"Stop it, Naruto!"
She embraced him tightly to show that she really meant what she said. "Please... It's not your fault..."
"Sakura..."
His face moved closer to hers. They could feel each others' breath. Her cheeks turned rosy pink as her lips were pressed against his. And as they kissed, lightning struck at the exact moment.
They were in their own world where they would be always happy, where they would always have one other.
They really love each other. But because of certain hindrances, they were too blinded to see that…well, not until now.
Her arms were wrapped around his neck while he entangled his hands with her long silky hair.
"I love you, Naruto," she breathed.
"I love you, too, Sakura," he replied.
And the sky calmed down slowly, revealing the awakening sun. The rain eventually stopped.
But a very strange thing happened when Sakura caught a falling photograph from the sky. FROM. THE. SKY.
And when Naruto joined to take a look at it, you should have seen their faces! First they were red, and then they turned blue!
It was all because of a picture of them as they passionately kissed during the storm.
"What the…"
"Sakura-chan, do you think the lightning took a picture of us?"
