A/N: This is a belated post. I managed to get it on tumblr on Percy's bday, but I just got around to it on here. Please read, fave, and review if you like.
Percy woke up to the smell of burning toast. Groaning and rubbing his eyes, he slowly sat up, squinting at the blinding light streaming in through the window.
After a few minutes and more than a few yawns, the savior of Olympus finally managed to drag himself out of bed. He stretched, cracking his back and sighing in relief. When the smell of burning food intensified, he brought himself back to the problem at hand: finding his lovers.
Ambling down the steps and toward the charred smell that he hoped was coming from the kitchen, Percy rubbed his eyes and ran a hand through his hair, trying to flatten the war zone of black locks.
When he finally reached the kitchen, Percy heard a string of curses and started snickering, trying to stay hidden behind the wall as he looked in.
"Gods damn it, Nico! You told me the eggs needed to be started after the toast, but now the toast burned because you didn't tell me that he left it in defrost!" Annabeth fumed. Her arms were crossed, but Percy found it hard to take her as serious as usual when she was wearing the fluffy pink apron that Piper had given him for April Fool's Day.
Nico glared from his place frosting a blue cake. He shot back, "I thought you would have looked! You know Percy loves those frozen waffles! Besides, if you keep yelling at me, you're gonna burn the eggs too and ruin breakfast."
Percy smiled affectionately as his lovers bickered. Annabeth must have asked Nico to try to show her how to cook, but from the looks of it, it was going about as well as to be expected. Annabeth wanted to cook, asked Nico to show her, she burned stuff, he got frustrated, she got frustrated she couldn't do something perfectly, and they were back to where the began.
Percy turned his attention back to them when he heard a startled cry. He watched in slow motion as Annabeth slipped on a discarded hand towel, and the jam in her hand splashed all over Nico and the cake before she fell on him too.
The two demigods crashed to the ground, Nico covered in frosting from the container that fell on his head, and the two of them covered in jam from the squeeze bottle.
For a moment, everything was silent except for the faint sizzle of the oil in the frying pan drying. Nico and Annabeth just stared at each other, apparently in shock.
Finally, Percy could hold back his laughter no more. He burst out laughing, clutching his gut as tears spilled from his eyes.
The heads of the smaller demigods whipped toward him instantly, and both of their cheeks turned bright pink. "P-Percy!" Nico squeaked, trying to nudge Annabeth off. "How long were you standing there?"
"Long enough to hear Wise Girl swearing like a drunken Leo."
Annabeth huffed but stayed silent.
Percy offered a hand to each of them, pulling them up quickly and pulling Nico closer so he could lick the frosting and jam off the younger boy's face. Nico turned an even brighter red, making Drew's lipstick collection jealous.
Annabeth and Percy laughed at their boyfriend's blush, and Annabeth swiped a finger along her cheek, licking her jam covered finger slowly, grinning at her boys.
"Hey, Nico," she began, "we forgot something."
Nico grinned and wiggled out of Percy's arms. "Oh yes, just a little something."
"Happy birthday, Percy!" they harmonized, showing off the jam-spattered cake that Nico had been working on before the trip.
Percy beamed at the blue cake before leaning down to kiss each of them on the cheek. "You guys are the best companions a humble Seaweed Brain like me could ask for," he jested as he wrapped his arms around them. "And about that giant aquarium in the living room…."
