The face that fills the hole
That stole my broken soul
The one that makes me seem to feel much taller than you are
I'm just a peeping tom
On my own for far too long
Troubles with the gear
Nothing left to fear
I'm weightless... I'm bare
I'm faithless... I'm scared
-Placebo lyrics, "Peeping Tom"
Elijah never imagined that he would ever be in the position he was in now. Secretely pining over a girl who was not his, but there he was, staring in through her bedroom window, watching her sleep. He had already been invited in, but he didn't think it was honorable of him to go into her bedroom without her knowing. So there he was. How did he ever get in this position? Night after night, he came to her window and he watched her sleep. He had no idea that tonight would be the night that things would change. Lost in his own thoughts, Elijah didn't notice that Elena had woken up.
Elena awoke with a start. She had been having a nightmare. She got out of bed to go get a drink of water when she saw someone outside of her window. Panicked but curious as to who it was she cautiously walked over to the window and peered out. She couldn't believe her eyes when she saw it was Elijah.
"Elijah?" Elena asked him after opening her window. Elijah looked at her, startled. "What are you doing outside of my window? Is everything OK? What's going on?" She demanded to know. Elijah was at loss for words, he had been caught. What could he possibly tell her? Without thinking, he blurted out, "I just wanted to see you, Elena." Elena wasn't sure what to say this, so she simply invited him into her bedroom.
Elijah was standing in her room and they both felt very uncomfortable. Finally after minutes of neither of them speaking, Elena broke the silence. "Why is it you wanted to see me, Elijah? It's 3 o'clock in the morning. I haven't seen you since you left. Does this mean you're back?" "I know, and I'm sorry." Elijah said. " I didn't mean to wake you, I just...I just felt it necessary to check up on you. To make sure you were alright. As for being back, I'm unsure if I am staying or not." Elena looked at him, confused. "You didn't wake me, I had a bad dream. I'm alright though, you don't need to check in on me." Elena paused, sitting down on her bed. " Not sure if you're staying? Why is that? Why are you even here then?"
Elijah looked at her for a moment and then sat down next to her. He could hear her heart rate increase at their proximity, which he enjoyed. "Elena, I am here because you have been on my mind since I left." She was looking at him for what felt like an enternity before she began talking again. "Elijah, I've missed you. Things have really gotten messed up since you left." He looked down at his hands for a moment, thinking, she's missed me. He couldn't help but smile. "What?" Elena asked him. "Oh, nothing. I'm sorry things have been so, troublesome, shall we say, for you." Elijah paused, looking at the clock, "It's late. You should go back to sleep now. I'll be here to talk later." She looked over at the time, surprised, it was almost 4, he had been here for nearly an hour? It felt like, 5 minutes. "Alright, I'll be waiting for you." He nodded to her and with a smirk said, "Goodnight, Elena. Or rather, Good Morning." With that he was gone away into the darkness of the early morning.
