A/N: Hi everyone! This is my first fic and I'm only 11, so please be nice, and forgive my mistakes! I'd like to thank my sister, dramaq, for helping me with this. Enjoy!
"Ugh. Do we really have to do this Matt?"
"I'm sorry Mels. We have been stressing about the Kira case too much. We need a day off." Matt pulled the reluctant blonde out of the car, and headed towards the pond.
"Finally, a place to sit," Mello groaned as he plopped onto a wooden bench.
The pond was beautiful, reflecting the gorgeous day. But in the corner of the pond lay a lovely little yellow blur, by far the most beautiful thing reflected.
"Hey, Mels," asked the redhead.
"What is it?" responded Mello.
"Uhhhhhh, nothing." The two of them looked at the ground.
"Hey, Mello?"
"WHAT IS IT MATT?!" Mello shouted.
"Ummmm... Isn't the pond beautiful?"
"Yeah... it is."
"What's your favorite part of the pond?" asked the goggled gamer.
"I dunno. I kinda like the ripples I guess..." said the mafia boss, "You?"
"Well, there is one thing," replied the redhead.
The two paused for a moment before Mello sighed. "What is it Matt?" Mello said uninterestedly.
"If you don't want to, you don't have to listen..."
"No! I want to listen!" the chocolate addict reassured.
"Well... uh, I do like that flower. The yellow one."
"That's my head Matt."
Matt paused out of embarrassment. He clasped his hands behind his back, his eyes scanned the dirt floor, and scraped the ground with his foot. "Well I still like it."
Mello hesitated. "Um, I guess I kinda like that rose next to my head."
The redhead chuckled. "Mello, that's my head!" The leather-clad teen smiled.
"Well, I still like it, I guess."
The sun was setting, and the trees cast a shadow on the duo. The forest soon became very dark. The two were about to go home, when suddenly, out of the blue, a tree came crashing down on them. Mello gasped at the tumbling object.
"Look out!" Yelled Mello as he pushed the smoker out of the way. Matt fell and sprained his ankle, while Mello got pinned by the tree.
"Mello!" the gamer squealed as he limped over to unconscious blonde. He pulled out one of Mello's chocolate bars from his pocket and waved it in front of Mello's face. "Mello! Wake up, buddy, wake up!" Matt was stumped. If waving chocolate in front of Mello's face wouldn't work, then what would? Finally, and idea crossed the redhead's mind.
"If this doesn't work, then what will?" he said to himself. He smeared Mello's lips with chocolate, and kissed him.
It was the sweetest kiss of Mello's life. This kiss contained his two favorite things: chocolate and Matt. It ignited a spark in Mello's heart. The spark pumped through his veins and swam up to the brain. His eyes snapped open.
"Mello!" Matt said cheerfully as he hugged the blonde haired teen.
"Matt... what happened?" the chocolate addict said woozily.
"Your arm! It looks broken! We have to get you medical help!"
"Why is there a tree on me?" Mello continued to question. Matt lifted the tree off of Mello's arm.
"Come on, let's go. I'll explain everything in the car." He gingerly helped the blonde to his feet.
"Hey, Matt?"
"Yeah, Mels?"
"Why do my lips taste like chocolate... and cigarets?"
"Well.. you see, I was going to go help you up. I tripped and uh, sorta fell on you, and our lips met. This morning I ran out of toothpaste so I had to use your chocolate toothpaste. And I recently smoked, so uh, that's why that flavors on your lips."
Mello didn't believe the story. He blushed and kissed Matt on the cheek.
"Can you walk? It looks like you sprained your ankle..." Mello wrapped his arm around Matt and helped him limp back to the car.
