First Kiss

"W-we don't have a choice," Takuto muttered, blushing.

Mitsuki nodded slightly. She knew that. The prize for winning the contest was a kiss from the princess… and she had agreed to be the princess in this. Even though she hadn't known that she'd have to give the winner a kiss at the time, there wasn't any way out now.

"I came because I thought you were in danger," Takuto continued. His ears were now flaming red as well. "Just hurry up and get it over with."

"O-okay," she replied quietly, feeling the burn of a blush on her own cheeks. She had always meant for her first kiss to be Eichi…. It was too late for that now.

The audience was absolutely silent as they watched. Takuto had his eyes closed as Mitsuki took a step forward. She leaned towards him slowly and closed her own eyes. Gently, she pressed her lips against his. As soon as she did, all thoughts of Eichi fled from her mind. Takuto's lips were incredibly soft and warm… They were even slightly wet still from the last contest he had done – where he had to hold his breath underwater.

She knew that she should pull away now, Takuto's words even echoed in her mind. Just hurry up and get it over with. But, now that she was actually kissing him, for some reason she couldn't pull back. She laid her hands on his chest lightly. A strange feeling coursed through her bloodstream, warming every part of her. She didn't know what it was but she couldn't help the thought that she didn't want it to end.

Takuto couldn't breathe as Mitsuki kissed him. He felt dizzy and he could feel his blush deepening. Mitsuki's lips were gentle and warm against his. He felt her lay her hands on his chest and heat raced through him and warmed his heart. Reason told him to pull back… but his heart kept him rooted in place. He finally let himself admit what he had really known all along. He was in love with Mitsuki! He didn't want to ever let her go. Unconsciously, he raised a hand and laid it on her cheek. She didn't pull away. A wave of emotions crashed over Takuto as he stood there. He didn't want to ever let her go….

"AYEEE!!" screamed a voice suddenly. Mitsuki and Takuto both started in shock – breaking apart – and turned to look at the source. Takuto didn't have to worry about anyone seeing his blush as the color drained from his face. Across the platform from he and Mitsuki stood Meroko – with a killer's gleam in her eyes.

"TAKUTO! YOU UNFAITHFUL JERK!" she shrieked, lunging at him.

"SOMEONE SAVE ME!" he cried. He stumbled backwards and just barely managed to leap off the stage before Meroko grabbed him. He tore through the crowd as fast as he could; ready to jump into the first hiding place he spotted. Anyone for miles around could hear Meroko behind him. She was hurling every insult that came to her lips straight at him.

"AHH! S-SPARE ME!" he yelled, running even faster.

Mitsuki giggled as she watched Meroko chase Takuto off into the distance. She knew they'd be fine. Meroko would forgive and forget eventually – even though it might cost Takuto a few bruises. After all, she and Takuto had been forced to kiss. Even as she thought that though, she knew there was something more to it. She still felt incredibly warmed and her lips tingled. For the first time in her life it wasn't Eichi's face that was smiling at her in her mind's eye, it was Takuto's….
