Prologue
Nick Fury could do nothing but watch as some of his agents fell under the spell of Loki, God of Mischief. The Tesseract had been unstable when Loki used it as a gateway and now was threatening to collapse on itself.
The facility had already called for an evacuation and people were leaving as quickly as they could. With each passing moment the ominous fate of the surrounding area became more and more real. As people ran and prayed for a miracle the impending explosion ceased to be a threat and at once became a reality.
What Nick Fury and the rest of S.H.I.E.L.D. didn't know; was that it had a larger effect than they had anticipated. At the exact same moment as the explosion, across the ocean, far away from prying eyes, in a tomb long forgotten, a coffin made of diamond cracked.
A/N: So here is the prologue for my new Avengers fic. I'm not going to do too much work on it until I finish Love Kills Slowly, which I have to find the motivation to write. I'm quite excited about this one and will be super glad to get reviews on everything.
