As the song ended with a marvelous harmony of Santana and Mercedes' voices, Kurt looked down at this boyfriend, his wonderful Prince Charming of a boyfriend, and smiled. He didn't need to say anything, the words of thanks and love were all being shown through his eyes, and Blaine understood the message perfectly. Their arms dropped from each other's backs as Quinn and Brittany made their way to the stage for the next song. All around them, people began dancing to the upbeat music that the blondes were singing, but Kurt and Blaine just stood in the middle of the crowd holding each other's hands. They held their gazes for a moment before Kurt broke away, giggling to himself in disbelief. Blaine leaned forward and placed a soft kiss on his boyfriend's cheek. They smiled at each other before making their way to the back of the room.
"I am so proud of you." Kurt said, his grin expanding even wider.
Blaine laughed and held him close. "Me? You were the one who was amazing tonight. I couldn't believe how confident you were. You were the perfect image of royalty." He said almost teasingly, which earned him a playful slap on the arm. His hand found his boyfriend's before Kurt could hit him and brought it up to his lips.
"Well you know, a few months ago a certain boy told me to have courage. I've been trying to keep that in mind ever since."
Blaine laughed, "Yeah, I was not very smooth, was I?"
"Maybe not, but it did have a nice effect on me, so apparently you were a lot more suave than you thought you were." Kurt replied with a small smile. "Honestly though, I couldn't have done it without you." He blushed a little under Blaine's gaze. Blaine opened his mouth to say something, but the applause that came with the end of the song cut him off. The two boys shared a look and began to make their way through the crowd towards the doors. The night had been eventful enough, with much redemption and excitement, but the boys were just ready to leave. They made their way to the parking lot arm in arm, chatting about the outfits and performances of the night.
"Kurt?" Blaine said shyly, which was unusual for him. Kurt turned to look at him with a small smile that encouraged him to go on.
"I love you." The smile turned into a full on grin as Kurt wrapped his arms around Blaine's waist, dropping his staff in the process. They kissed with a passion that they believed nothing could ever compare to.
When they finally pulled away, Kurt replied the words he had been waiting to say since the day on the staircase. "Blaine, I love you, too."
The look that spread across their faces was nothing but an adoring optimism for the future. They leaned in for another kiss, memorizing the moment that they know they would always remember.
On Monday, Kurt went to his locker and took down the photo of a dapper looking young man with gel in his hair. He replaced it with a picture of a boy with a plastic crown and arms around another boy, both smiling with looks of pure adoration on their faces. Underneath was the word "courage", along with some freshly cut magazine letters that spelled the word "love".
