"You okay?" Catherine asked, seating herself on the couch in his office.
Grissom looked up, surprised. He hadn't heard her enter. "Why wouldn't I be?"
She shot him a skeptical look, "Please. I know why this case affected you so much."
"And why is that?"
"She could have been Sara."
Grissom nodded slowly. "She could have been."
They were quiet for a moment before Catherine asked, "Why couldn't you do it?"
Grissom looked up in surprise. "You were listening?"
"I was walking by," Catherine admitted. "I wanted to hear what you had to say."
They fell again into silence, Grissom gathering his thoughts, Catherine waiting for his answer.
"Having someone young and beautiful practically throwing herself at you is very tempting. But in the end, it doesn't mean anything if you don't love them."
"Not how they want to be loved anyway," he amended.
Another silence, before Catherine asked, "What if someone a bit older and beautiful were to throw herself at you?"
Gil turned to look at her. He paused before answering, "I suppose it would depend on the woman."
Catherine nodded, then grinning wickedly at him, she asked, "Have you had that shower yet?"
Grissom slowly smiled back.
