Theme is: War as a game.
Done for English homework…Again, why waste it?
Jumping Jacks
They roll the dice
Too many a time;
Before born eyes open
And elderly eyes sweep,
To when father figures cheer on, proudly-
And mothers do weep.
But the players say-"don't worry,
I'll be fine, we'll do the same
Thing next year-same date,
Same time.
Worry not; it is not just for you,
Now pucker up and stay strong
And remember, Heaven's far along
The Snake Ladder."
And yet the air
Slams still
When your trumpet is called,
As the valkyies drop in
To gain Odin's haul,
As the last man standing
Faces final role call.
As the remains of the days
Flow on by,
As real as the sickly, sweet scent of paradise.
As the last gamer falls down, cold-
As triumphant as Odin of his throne of Gold.
Why, rare and singular this game
Is!
Not found anywhere, but in Man!
Played on the chest board
Of No-Man's Land.
And everyman must say.
"No-no this is the long-awaited call,
But did I ever stop and wonder
That it would also be my Fall?"
Yes, the hand every man must lend,
When standing alone at World's End.
Hope you enjoyed!
