Prologue
She just did not understand it one bit.
Why exactly did her sons have to be this way?
Seriously, was that a gray hair she just spotted? The dark haired older women had thought to herself as she examined a section of her hair. Sighing, the woman dropped the section of hair and stared back at her reflection in the mirror before her.
She was starting to lose her patience with them both.
Itachi had just turned 25 two months ago and still showed very little interest in the opposite sex. The young man still had continuously ignored all the overwhelming amount of attention that had followed him as women from all over the village tended to follow his every move.
When Itachi had started to become more independent and decided to move out when he turned 18, she had thought it would give him more confidence in things like dating. The clan had even allowed him permission to move outside the walls of the compound, free to do ever what he pleased. With all this found new freedom, he still refused to involve himself in anything really social related.
As much as she knew her son loved her deeply, he had refused to let her meddle in his love life. She didn't understand why though, all she was trying to do was help. I mean who else could pick a suitable woman for him rather than his own mother? She had tried so many times to arrange meetings with noble clans and other respected clans whose daughters would had made a wonderful wife for her first born, but yet, all meeting had fell through as her son failed to make time, or in fact show any interest. His missions and clan matters seemed to only be the thing he cared about. Truthfully, she was getting rather nervous for him. Itachi was to be the next clan head, if he didn't marry soon...
The dark haired women sighed she begin to think about the fate he would soon come across.
When was he going to choose to settle down with a wife? She had hoped for him to be married off by now.
The same went with her youngest son, Sasuke. Now at the age of 20, the young man still has failed to bring a lovely girl home to meet her and his father. It seemed like all he wanted to do was follow in his older brothers footsteps. Like Itachi, he only strived to become a better shinobi. One mission after another, not relaxing or looking at what life had to offer.
Nevertheless, she did believe Sasuke had more potential than his older brother. She had the feeling of hope return to her as she noticed how much time he spent his pink haired teammate, Haruno Sakura. It's not like the thought of the possibility of her son and his pink haired teammate being in a romantic relationship hasn't crossed her mind. He had always spent so much time with her that it actually made her wonder if they were dating or not. Like his brother, Sasuke had never failed to capture the attention of many girls wherever he went. Even the first time meeting the Haruno, she could see how much affection she carried for her son. Every time he had brought his team home, it always amazed her how easy the girl's eyes would light up just by the sight of her son. It amazed her how someone could care so much about him.
But alas, soon as the years went by and she had began to notice that the girl's affection had begun to grow differently. The more Team Seven had visited her home, she noticed the spark in the young girl's eyes begin to fade when she looked at her son. Instead it was clear it was directed to someone else.
But maybe, just maybe there had still been hope for the two.
Maybe she had been wrong about their relationship after she had discovered that the pink haired medic had accompanied her little boy to the White Day gala that is annually held in the Uchiha clan. Now, by bringing a women along to this gala made a very bold and clear statement.
This gala had placed a great importance on most Uchiha parents as it symbolized the decision of young Uchiha men finally choosing a special woman to court or even make a wife. Seeing Sakura attend this gala with her son had filled her with excitement of the thought of her youngest baby choosing a wife to settle down with. Truthfully, the clan had been taken back a bit when they saw Sasuke bring his pink haired teammate. It was not hard to understand though, considering that Itachi and Sasuke were a part of the head family in the clan, they were expected to marry within the clan. A way to keep the Uchiha blood pure of all imperfections. It was an old outdated rule that she had no control over.
Her sons had been placed in a light where their reputation held an importance for the clan. It had made it much more crucial for them to be married off. At this rate, the clan elders would propose arranged marriages for her sons. Being that Itachi was already 25, they had already started to discuss future plans for him. She understood that love was something that wasn't wanted for their futures at the moment, but she didn't want them to placed unhappily in marriage they didn't want. So when the news of Sasuke bringing his teammate reached her ears she couldn't help but feel excitement. The girl had been a perfect choice for her second born! Not only had she liked the girl, but she was also well respected and had acted with class to the clan.
Yet despite this statement, it was still clear that the young women had no romantic feeling for her son. She could see it easily when she was around the members of Team Seven. The young women had fallen in love with the young Uzumaki whether she knew it or not. The looks she gave him when he wasn't looking were the same looks she had given her son all those years ago.
Well, she wished that the Haruno could find a bit of happiness in her life even if it was not with her son. Especially with the recent new that had come out. It had been announced that the young Uzumaki was to be wedded of to the oldest heiress of the Hyuga clan. Truthfully, a lot a people were shocked by that one. The son of the late Fourth Hokage and the heiress of the prestige Hyuga clan.
She couldn't help but feel a little jealous when she had heard the news. He was another step closer to creating a family of his own while her sons still were not.
She wouldn't lie though, there was a part of her that was being a little selfish as she did miss the pitter patter of small feet running around. She had really grown fond of the idea of having a grandchild. So maybe her meddling wasn't fully in the best interest of Itachi and Sasuke. Maybe she was being a little selfish in that aspect.
The middle aged women had sighed once more at her reflection before deciding to turn off the bathroom light and making her way back down to the kitchen before her guests arrived.
Her sons were getting any younger as she wasn't.
Uchiha Mikoto wanted a grandchild and she wanted one soon.

.
The meaning of the word anger didn't even begin to describe what Uchiha Sasuke was feeling in this exact moment.
What. The. Fuck.
These had been the first words that ran through the young Uchiha's mind as he returned home for dinner that night. He wasn't really the biggest fan of surprises, especially ones like this.
Walking into the dinning room, that is only in use when they have guests over, he watched as his mother place a large steaming hot dish on the nicely made table. Shifting his eyes, he noticed as his father sat at one end with Itachi sitting to his left, both wearing a set of formal robes.
Looking at the other end, he noticed an older man he did not know.
The man looked slightly younger than his father, but not by very much. He had bright orange eyes that seemed to have dulled over the years that went with his short dirty blonde hair. Next to him was a woman who had shoulder length black curly hair with the same bright orange eyes. Her face was decently average he decided as it was adorned with a decent amount of make up. Like his father and brother, they had also been dressed formally. Sasuke caught the young woman's eyes, and noticed as she began to blush violently as she quickly looked away.
She seemed no older than he was.
Sasuke froze as he felt all eyes land on him.
Son of a bit-
The dark eyed boy could feel as his anger and irritation begin to rapidly rise within him.
"Sasuke, I would like you to meet Lord Tadao and his daughter Akemi! They'll be dinning with us tonight!" His mother had said interrupting his thoughts as she smiled kindly at him. "Please go make yourself a little more presentable and come and join us," she said before tending back to her guest. "Excuse my son, he had recently just returned from a week long mission."
The young man shoved his hands in his pockets in an attempt to keep them from balling up into fists. It was becoming rather harder and harder for him to keep his temper in check as he mentally rolled his eyes.
Without a word, the young man had promptly did what he was told and began walking down the hall to his old childhood room.
Why did he have to return home to this? This was something he had not wanted to deal with at the moment.
Opening the door to his childhood room he could see that his mother had already laid out a nice dark blue colored set of robes to change into. Sighing, he grudgingly began to remove the standard ninja clothing he wore that day.
Sasuke had just returned home from a week long mission that he and his annoying teammate had been assigned to. It had been a simple B ranked mission on investigating and gathering information on a small village located outside of the fire country that had been rumored to be harboring rouge ninjas that had been guilty of a band of massacres in other small villages. It had been going completely fine until the blond idiot blew their cover by losing his temper after overhearing a conversation after they had infiltrated their base. It had been a simply stated mission that had gotten way out of hand. Now all he wanted to do was go home and sleep the night away.
That of course, was until he had ran into his mother on the way back from filling out his mission report to the Hokage. She had eagerly begged him into coming home for a family dinner that night, she had even said his older brother would attend! After thinking about it, and by not eating all day, he thought this would be a great way to unwind from the stress that had been created from his mission. He hadn't really seen much of his family lately, especially Itachi. Everyone had been rather busy with their own matters. His father with his clan duties, Itachi with ANBU, and even himself with his constant training and missions. It would be a nice evening to spend with his family.
Lately, it seemed like his mother had been trying to spend as much time as she could with him and of course, he knew why. When she started to become a little attached, it usually had to do with something on her mind. Don't get him wrong, he loved his mother very much but she could become a little bit overbearing when she got into these moods. He thought maybe his she seemed a bit lonely with the family always so busy. Now, he knew that was not the case.
Honestly, he shouldn't of have been so surprised with what has happened tonight. After so many failed attempts with his older brother, it was no surprise that she had suddenly began to try and set him up with a suitable wife. He remembered all the times his mother spent setting up dinners and meetings to help find Itachi wife when he was still living at home. I guess he had her attention now. He hadn't really understood why it meant so much to her for them to find a wife. He was only 20, he had his whole life ahead of him to find woman to marry, but right now wasn't the time. He had a lot of more important things he need to focus on at the moment rather than something so trivial.
This year was been one of the most important to him. The amount of hours he spent training and pushing his body to its limit was too cruical to let go. All of this hard work was not going to be thrown away for a mere woman. He needed to focus on training not love. He needed to prove to the Hokage herself that he could handle the life on an ANBU. This years promotion cermony was just right around the corner, he needed to train in order to show he was capable and strong enough to become an ANBU before it was too late.
His brother had managed to become an ANBU when he was only just a teenager and here was at the age 20, still an Jounin. He could not let himself fall farther behind his brother, he wanted to gain the same recognition as Itachi.
Yes, this could all go perfectly. All he needed was to keep his mind leveled and focused, train non-stop, and avoid his mother as much as possible until he was able to get recongzined as someone who was worthy of ANBU status. He made a mental note to himself to try to get Itachi to train with him sometime this week. He still owed him from last time.
Coming out of his thoughts, Sasuke looked at himself in the floor length mirror that had leaned against one of the walls in the room. Deciding that he looked good enough, he took one last breath before going to join his family and their special guests.
'This is going to be a long night,' the dark haired Jounin had thought bitterly before taking his seat across from the blushing dark haired heiress.
A/N: I know it's a little short but, I hope you enjoyed the Prologue(:
I'm going to try and make the chapters longer than this, but this just kind of gives you the idea of what this story is going to be like.
I still haven't decide if this is going to have NaruSaku or ItaSaku in it yet, so If you really want one of these pairings to happen let me know(:
