Chapter 1: the crash
Ashley's P.O.V
I was just thirteen when it happened, I was driving with my dad we'd just robbed a bank machine outside of a corner store. I stole some change from three parking meters all on my own, I'll never forget how my dad looked at me and said "that's my girl!"
We made it off Scott-free and were driving away one snowy night, just then I heard sirens I looked in the rear view mirror, sure enough five cop cars were on to us. Dad put the petal to the floor but dad went too fast because just as we were coming around a corner we started to spin the whole car was going in circles. My head smashed into the passenger window as the whole car flipped. I was quick to unbuckle my seat belt and grab my dad's old back pack that was filled with the cash we stole. I shook my dad on the shoulder.
"Dad, come on, let's blow this joint!" I said.
He didn't move.
"Dad…" I said hot tears welling in my eyes "dad, wake up! Please!"
He still didn't move or talk, he hadn't made it. I couldn't believe it …I wouldn't believe it. But it was true …my dad and only parent left was dead.
I heard the sirens getting closer, I kissed my dad's cheek one final time, grabbed the cash and ran. I went into the ditch and ran to the nearest house, it didn't look like anyone was home. I decided to go in through the window.
Little did I know, I would find a whole new family there…
