"HALT!"
The command screamed out to the clear night sky and rung up to the heavenly orb that glowed within it.
A boy of twelve years peered up to the guard dressed in a silvery suit of metal arms and pulled back a long hood that concealed his face. "I come only to ask when the King will be holding an open session for the people."
"Tommorrow at noon day." The man held back the annoyed tones that caught in the back of his throat and shifted. "Now, find your home and sleep, boy."
The child nodded. "Many thanks, sir." He turned, swiftly, and ducked around a sharp curve where he leaned against the tall hill that made it. The lad took hold of a strong group of tangled vines and pulled himself up using the same familar steps he had once before.
The boy doged into the shadows and ran, silently, along the heels of tired guards. He slipped into the cold waters of the moat that run beneath the great, white, walls of Hyrule Castle and grabbed the stray root from a nearby tree.
The root allowed him back onto dry land and on the very path he needed to be. Several feet away crates sat close to the door of the Castle's pantry delivered only an hour before dark... something the twelve year old had counted on. He pushed them close to the edge of the stream and peered across where a hole weeped a steady stream of water down into the man-made river.
"I think I heard something over here." The weary eyes of one of the Castle's Knights meandered to the empty lot where the boy had once been... The man sighed. "Guess it was just an animal." Then turned and walked back to his post where he fell back into a light sleep.
Boots landed, silently, on cobblestone bricks that harbored a small fountain in the inner walls of the Royals' courtyard. The security within this confine was also known to the child. He smirked at the knowledge he should not know and rolled passed a nodding soilder.
A labyrinth of hedges and great stautes littered the ground wrapped in an intricate web of bright flowers and warm moonlight. The lad slipped through the last bit of vegatation and ran a hand through his hair... he, at last, was nervous.
"Welcome, Link."
A girl, of his years, turned and brushed back short golden strangs of hair from her porcelain face. A smile, soft and endearing, mounted a face of childish beauty that tugged at Link's heartstrings.
He bowed and took a long breath. "I wanted... Maybe it..." He smiled, warmly. "Its so good to see you, Princess."
The Royal Family's only heir blushed and brought her lavender eyes up to met the electric blue orbs that matched with the boyish handsome features. "I've missed you too."
Link took a step forward and then proceed to walk the rest of the way into the clearing where his companion stood. He held out his arms, uncertainty filling his veins and pumping a fast beating heart, and allowed the Princess to fall into them. "Zelda..."
"Seven years I waited for you to save my Kingdom... and I will never be able to thank you enough for that." Princess Zelda turned her face up to the lad and pressed a tender kiss upon his lips. "You are my Hero, and my dearest friend, and I love you."
Link smiled and kissed the girl back. "No one will understand that we believe what we're saying tommorrow."
Zelda closed her eyes and leaned her head against her sweetheart's chest. "It is not our faults that we are trapped in the bodies of a children..." She felt his hands wound, tightly, about her waist. "With the knowledge of adult lives and desires."
Another kiss passed between the two and enstilled the overpowering sense of fate.
Link kissed her forhead. "We have only a few minutes until we are not children." The moon rose higher. "Than, my Princess, I will dare love you."
