Oven Man's Story
Author's Notes: Hey all. This is just a (very) short story defining who exactly 'Oven Man' was in Resident Evil 4. Why was he in that oven? Read on to find out what I think happened.
Don Fuego was a villager rank Ganado working under Osmund Saddler and the Los Illuminados cult in rural Spain. One fateful day, after the president of the United States of America's daughter is kidnapped, an American agent managed to find out about her whereabouts. The agent, later known as one Leon S. Kennedy, managed to find the village in which Don Fuego lived, and was attacked. During the fight, Leon took refuge in the tower near the church building. None of the villagers would climb up there to get him, as he would simply stab them as they came up the ladder. Don Fuego, being a pyromaniac, decided to unveil his stash of Molotov cocktails.
No other Ganado had ever thought of such a thing, and Leon certainly didn't see it coming. When the Molotovs flew into the tower, the American quickly exited, not wishing to burn to death. Although Leon managed to elude the Ganados due to the timely distraction of a false alarm from the Illuminados church, Don Fuego was commended for his ingenuity and resourcefulness. As a result, Don Fuego was promoted from a villager Ganado, to a militia Ganado.
Still equipped with his now trademark Molotov cocktails, Don Fuego was a force to be reckoned with. His promotion was not to last however, as a freak accident with a Molotov cocktail resulted in the deaths of three other Ganados, and the singeing of Lord Saddler's cloak.
As punishment, Don Fuego was to be placed in a closed space with no light whatsoever. The most convenient area fitting this description happened to be a large oven in the base's galley. Don Fuego, being a loyal and repentant follower of his Lord Saddler, took his punishment without complaint. He allowed himself to be locked away in the oven for however long his Lord wished.
Eventually, Leon managed to make his way to the island, and the militia Ganados were dispatched to get rid of him. On their way through the galley, one of the Ganados stumbled and accidentally hit the on switch for the oven. None of them paid it any mind, but Don Fuego was trapped inside, and began to feel warm. Eventually, Don Fuego burst into flames inside the oven, but nobody could hear him scream as the oven was very well insulated.
As Leon made his way to the galley and dispatched the lone attendant for the shelves, the hinges on the oven began to give way. Don Fuego burst out of the oven just as Leon conveniently approached, and the American agent promptly shot Don 'Oven Man' Fuego dead.
"What was he doing in there?" Leon wondered as he examined the broken oven before proceeding on his mission.
