She looked beautiful, as always. Her eyes glistening like the emeralds they were. She smiled, and it lit up his whole life. She was laughing at a joke he had told her. He wanted to hold her, laugh with her, but she would always just be a memory. She was his and he had blown it. "Mudblood," he had called her, "just a little girl."
"I'm sorry. Lily, I didn't mean to!" he had said.
"It's over, Severus," she said storming away.
His heart had always been in his throat when he was around her. He missed that sensation. Sometimes, day to day, he would just sit and cry over her. She was dead and he knew it was all his fault. He had told Lord Voldemort about the prophecy. And now Lily is dead, and sometimes he wished that she would have chosen him over that stuck up, jerk of a Potter. She might still be alive, and even if she was not, then he would have died along side her. Sometimes tears would roll down his cheeks, and he would feel like dying. His heart would scream to be let go. And then he would bring out her picture. He would sit for hours at a time and talk to her, in the end smiling like he had really seen Lily Evans herself. Every now and again he would conjure up his patronus. He knew that if she was a doe, then she deserved her stag, which happened to be James Potter. Her son was all he had left and he looked so much like James that he could not bring himself to love him like the son he always wanted with Lily. But he had her eyes, and her smile. His laugh was like her's. Some days he could not bear to see the boy, not even to see her eyes one last time.
"I always loved you, and I still do," he would mumble to her picture. She would look back and nod, and smile her beautiful smile. He would never have given up on her if she had not fallen for James. Her smile, her eyes, her laugh, it would be just a memory until the day he died and could see her again. He wanted to see her eyes one last time before he died.
"Look...at...me," he whispered. He smiled as the face of the son became the face of the mother. "Lily?" he asked
"Sev! You finally came! I've missed you," she said hugging him. He let out the breath he did not know he was holding.
"I've missed you too," he said and smiled.
