The sun was low in the sky, on the mid-November evening. A cold whisper caught on the wind, a small voice, unheard to the normal person. A dark voice.

"Severus, you know what you must do." It was Voldemort.

He walked down toward the source of the voice. The voice that haunted him, there on the corner of the empty streets. The man with his back turned to him, his black robe filling Severus' head with deception.

"Ah, you have returned to me my child, Severus. Have you returned to tell me of your success at the mission I have given you?"

"No, master, I came to speak to you about something regarding my mission though - "

"Ah, then Severus, you have not pleased me. Bring the Potter's blood back in that little vile or you should not expect your reward."

"But master, the Potter's are not so hard to kill. Last night, I attempted to kill them, and James dueled me."

"NO DEATH EATER SHOULD EVER LOSE TO A MEMBER OF THE ORDER!" Voldemort roared, spittle hitting Severus as Voldemort turned and roared.

"I tried my hardest - "

"Severus," Voldemort's cold voice dropped to a nicer octave. "You are not worthy of Death Eater. You are an abomination to our superiority!"

"Master, no," Severus dropped to his knees, and begged "Master, please, no, keep me as your trusty servant."

"Bring me the blood of the Potter's by midnight, and you shall be redeemed."

"Most thanks, master. The blood of the Potter's shall be yours."

When Severus looked up, Voldemort was gone. He stood, and life seemed to flow into the street. Severus took off, and was ready to kill his oppressor. Ready to commit the crime he'd been waiting years to go through with. Ready to stain his hands with the blood of James Potter.

Severus turned off the street, and turned left, onto Godric's Hollow. Where the Potters lived. There, in that large house. Pumpkins sat in the yard, candles glowing out of the holes in the front. There she was. Lily, cradling that little baby, the bitch and her offspring. She say him, and ran into the house, and screamed. Severus whipped out his wand, and ran to the house, blasting the door off with his wand. There she was, the woman so beautiful, so fragile, so frightened. Standing in the kitchen a few feet from the door. Harry wasn't there.

"What do you want?" Lily asked, rage distorting her beautiful face.

"You know what I want, Lily." He said her name with a strong distaste. He shuffled close to her, and stroked her smooth cheek. Soft as silk. He leaned over, and whispered. "Come to me, Lily, come to the dark. Leave James. He is not but a fool. Come to ME!"

"NO!" She yelled, and pushed him away, and yelled "STUPIFY!" and ran up the stairs.

When Severus came around a minute later, James was there, his wand between Snape's eyes.

"What do you want with us?" He snapped.

"What I've always wanted. Severus kicked James in the stomach, and spotted his wand, laying on the floor beside him. Lily was there.

"CRUCIO!" Severus yelled, pointing his wand at James, as he fell on the ground, yelling, screaming, shaking. "Now, Lily. You seem a lesser threat to me." He stood up. "Now, INCENDIO!" The fire leapt from his wand, and Lily yelled: "Protego!" and a shield-like bubble formed around her, eating away at the fire.

"Tarantallenga!" Lily shouted, and Severus' legs went out of control, dancing around, as his foe ran up the stairs. James stopped writhing on the floor, and out of breath stood up. "STUPEFY!" He roared.

Severus woke up several hours later. Withour the blood of the Potter's. they were too diffucult to kill.

Then it hit him

An older couple walked by him, as he lay on the sidewalk. He took out his wand, and they were dead before they hit the ground.
