A/N: I don't know if I'm turning this into a story, but this is the general background:
In season 1, episode "I Will Remember You" Angel turns human for a day. Buffy is in LA and they spend a passionate night together. What if, despite the inevitable future, Angel chose to remain human? Could love really conquer all?

But now this is straight from my heart
I love her. I love her like I have never loved anybody else. I never thought I deserved love until I met her. She made me see that I am not only what my past made me. I can be a good vampire. I can defeat the fate there seems to be for our race, and instead of using humans as a feeding source I can help them and be a better man.

And it won't ever die
I want you to stay with me
Not just this day
But for all my life
Man. Yes. A better man. I am human now. No longer a vampire. We spent the whole day exploring my new identity and I still want more. More nights with her, sleeping with her more often. I want to taste icecream from her lips, I want to hear her heartbeat speeding up knowing mine is doing the same. I want to live, and only in her arms I am truly alive.

I have told her about the future. That she will perish if I don't turn back. That I can't protect her like this. She kissed me and told me to stay. She told me they would find a solution, whoever they are. She told me she had sacrificed so much to become a slayer. And that she wanted something for herself just this once. She wanted me. And I wanted her. Being able to love her, make love to her, it felt so good. I tried to push away the voices that kept telling me she would die cause of me. She would perish, burn in fires or experience whatever horrible torture for this one egocentric decision.
