"If she's supposed to be dead, then why is she...?"
"Why is she what?" Tsuzuki asked in between bites as he and Hisoka watched a subject from afar while having a "snack".
"That girl," Hisoka said, "she's on the kiseki list, I know she is. I remember her."
A quizzical look crossed Tsuzuki's face as he looked at his partner strangely. "Who are you talking about?"
The empath's temper nearly flared as he pointed, "THAT GIRL OVER THERE."
"That person over near the sakura tree?"
"YES."
"That's a guy."
Hisoka blushed instinctively, but grabbed the front of his partner's shirt angrily. "Like HELL it is! It's the girl from the kiseki list, I know I'm RIGHT. Sumeragi Something-or-other. I can FEEL her, Tsuzuki."
At the very mention of "Sumeragi Something-or-other", Tsuzuki blanched and took another look at the lonely man in a white coat standing underneath a curious sakura tree. "Oh. Well. ...Come on, we promised Watari we'd get him something from Tokyo, didn't we?"
"You're deliberately trying to change the subject and distract me!"
"We passed this weird electronic store down that street, didn't we? Let's go there."
"...Whatever," Hisoka gave in and walked with him without another glance back at the park.
A few years ago Tsuzuki and his old partner had been sent to find the missing spirit of a bubbly teenage girl. They had never found her.
And since Tsuzuki was off the case, the afterworld officially never would.
