A/N: I don't own One Piece, but I do own Desaid Kusatsu.
The birds of the jungle chirped out their cacophony of sound as Robin examined the ancient ruins of Jaya. She was currently examining the ruins of a small building.
"This was probably a small rural home. Thankfully it is not too badly damaged by the forest…I wonder how the ruin at the city will hold up…"
She ran a hand along a nearby tombstone. Someone emerged from the building. She looked over and saw it was Kusatsu, wearing a black tracksuit, black trousers, grey boots, a brown rucksack and that hateful look he reserved just for her. Apparently he had been doing some researching of his own.
"Hey, don't touch that! Do you know how valuable these ruins are?!" he said, and his voice was laced with venom.
"I wasn't going to damage it." retorted Robin.
"Yeah, that's what those other guys said. You're worth no more than them." said Kusatsu, sitting down and taking his notebook out of his bag.
Robin sniffed. "You hate me…that much."
"It's a living." replied the bitter young researcher.
"So that's it, is it? You hate me because I'm better than you?"
Kusatsu suddenly stood up. "Who said you're better than me? Because you're definitely not. If anything, you're below me."
"Then what is it? Because you join this crew and you've been treating me like crap ever since I met you."
"Fine. You want to know what it is? My parents died that day when Ohara was taken out by the Buster Call. And the only reason that it was Buster Call'd was because of you and your god-damned archaeologist friends!"
Robin looked humbled. "Arguing about it doesn't change the past."
"Yeah, well." replied Kusatsu, picking up his backpack. He was about to storm off when one of God's Militia landed on top of one of the ruins.
"Get down from there!" Robin and Kusatsu shouted in unison.
"You two are in no position to get angry!" said the militia member.
"Oh, really?" replied Kusatsu.
"What are you going to do about it?" said Robin.
"Alright! Under god's direct order, I will use this Axe Dial and get rid of you and the Shandians!"
"Six Wheel Fleur." said Robin, crossing her arms over her chest. Several arms sprouted over the militia member.
"Twist!"
The arms broke the militia member's neck, instantly killing him.
"How ill-mannered!" said Robin.
"Man, what a dick." agreed Kusatsu, kicking the militia member's dead body. "People have no respect for history these days."
"You know," began Robin, "We are very alike. We share the same ideals. And though our pasts are dead and gone, we can create our futures ourselves."
Kusatsu looked over at her. She was extending a hand towards him.
"If we work together, we can protect other histories."
Kusatsu hesitated, before taking her hand. She suddenly pulled him towards herself then caught him in a deep kiss. He was surprised at first, but then returned it.
Robin then led him off by the hand into the heart of the jungle, in search of adventure.
A/N: Just wrote this off the top of my head….Kusatsu's weapons/techniques to be revealed later.
