"Mmmm. I think this is the best piece of cake I've ever had," Dean declared emphatically. He promptly shoveled another bite into his mouth. "So moist," he mumbled around the masticated chocolate. "I mean, look at this!" He shoved a forkful of cake under Sam's nose. "Every crumb is just moist and delicious."
Sam wrinkled his nose and pushed Dean's hand away. "Will you stop saying that?"
"What—delicious? 'Cause I can think of a dozen other words to describe this cake."
"No. Moist. I hate that word."
Dean looked askance at his brother. "Wait a minute...you hate the word...moist? Why?"
"I don't know. There's just something about it. I just...don't like it."
Dean grinned and forked another bite of cake into his mouth. "Mmmmmoist."
Sam sighed, knowing he'd just made a grave mistake. He'd given Dean ammunition to use against him. "You know, I'm not the only one who hates that word. It was named the New Yorker's most hated word. In fact, back in 2007 there was a linguistics professor who wrote about the word and explored the concept of word aversion..."
Dean groaned and waved down the waitress. He needed another piece of cake.
