Author's Note: DBZ doesn't belong to me. Everyone is always trashing Chichi so I decided it was time she was paid her rightful dues.
It Was All Him
Chichi's Story
She stood on the threshold of her house. The sky was a curdling blood red as if it knew her plight and grieved with her too. She had lived here for the better of her years. Her old home had once been consumed in flames then it had been destroyed. That had been a long time ago.
He was gone now. That mischievous man she had fell in love with was dead. If he had lived who knew what would have happened. She was fooling herself. The adventures of being married just did not thrill him like a good fight did. She bit her lip and knew it was useless.
He must have known. He should have seeing that he knew ki so well. She was confused. He knew it when Gohan had came into their lives. He did not see it this time. Perhaps it was because he was busy with preparing for battle.
It had been three months and already she was having trouble seeing her feet. That was expected. This was not any mortal baby. A half-human, half-saiyijin. Having her last child had been so stressful. She was grateful in a way. He must have known. This was his present to her. He knew he would die.
She swayed slightly and held the side of the doorframe for support. She wanted to pour her heart out there on the grass at her field and feel the wrath of everyone trying to save her. She did not care at times.
So, many years she had been alone. He had promised to take her as his bride when they were children and then he forgot. She came after him to make him remember his promise and there, in front of the world, he had asked her to marry him.
She smiled and touched the corner of her mouth. Yes, he had loved her in his own way. She suspected that he had loved their son even more. That was okay with her. She loved them both the same. Even though he properly did not fully realized this.
If he laid next to her one last time or they sat under their tree again, she would have made him know. He had a child's innocence and a hero's strength. The type of man you only dream about. He was legendary. And legends can not be bound to a mortal woman.
She felt the baby kick. Her hand instantly rubbed her stomach and he quit moving. Her unborn son would not know his sire. Some people might think that her husband had left her and that she carried another man's child. Goku would not leave her. He cared about his wife with loving tenderness that no one else seldom seen.
The greatest man she had ever known was gone. He gave his life up for everyone and then choose to stay dead for everyone's sakes. That was her Goku. She had loved him through it all and now their second son was waiting for the light of day to come.
