Reno was sprawled across his desk. Rude was leaning back in a chair at his own desk; dozing off behind his dark glasses. Even with them on, it was still quite obvious he was asleep. Though when questioned later he would claim he was just "resting his eyes." Elena walked into the office she shared with the two. She glanced over at Reno and sighed, then she shifted to Rude.

"Long night?" she asked. Reno started; Rude hardly flinched—except to adjust his shades.

"You have no idea," he groaned. Reno yawned and stretched.

"But it was worth it!" The redhead grinned. Elena hid her initial thoughts of horror. She was smart enough to put two and two together—or so she believed. She opened her mouth to say something, but instead sat down and faked an interest in her work. Which is more than could be said for Reno. He pushed back his hair in disarray, making all sorts of loud and disgusting noises as he did so. Elena, being the only female in the room, found it intolerable. She left the room and the obnoxious redhead to finish her work elsewhere.

"Noisy, loud-mouthed, voluble…" she muttered as she walked out.

"What's her problem?" Reno seemed genuinely confused. Rude shrugged.

"I guess she doesn't recognise true genius when she sees it," he suggested. There was a hint of sarcasm in his voice that Reno didn't pick up on.

"Last night…" Reno reminisced.

"You really enjoyed yourself," Rude inferred. Reno nodded.

"That was sweet," he declared. "It took me all night, but I finally beat the high score!" He acted quite satisfied with himself and Rude couldn't help but smile slightly at his partner's tendency to be so easily pleased.

A/N: Reno stayed up playing Time Pilot (an old arcade game), and insisted that Rude be present as a witness when he finally got the high score. But you can guess what Elena thought he was talking about...
