Unnoticed, Iggy hid behind the tree trunk. His eyes were brimmed with tears, and some had even escaped.

"I-I-I love you too," Max said from behind him.

Iggy wished so much she'd say that to him, not to Fang. Yeah, Fang was his friend. But he couldn't help but feel jealous and hurt.

"You do?" Fang's quiet voice was filled with surprise.

Like you didn't already know, Iggy thought snidely. After all those times she kissed you, you never noticed.

After a short silence, there was that sound Iggy dreaded to hear; the sound of Max kissing Fang.

"We should go back," Max said.

"Let Iggy watch the kids," Fang said.

Iggy felt betrayed.

"He might not be back with firewood yet," Max said. Iggy gulped, feeling slightly guilty; he was supposed to be getting firewood.

Iggy heard rustling from the opposite direction of where he was, then all was silent.

He was crying now, tears falling from his sightless eyes. He felt so broken.

Iggy slumped down to the ground, tucking his knees in, shivering and whimpering and crying. Suddenly, he felt like he couldn't take it anymore. A few minutes ago, he'd just heard his crush confess her love to someone else.

"Why can't you say that to me?" Iggy said, his voice hoarse. "Why?"

The air was quiet, except for his small sobs. Where was Max and Fang?

Probably making out somewhere else, Iggy thought, sniffling.

"...Iggy...?"

His head snapped up towards the voice. Though he couldn't see, he knew it was Max.

"Are you okay?" He felt her kneel next to him. Her hand came up to his shoulder and she rubbed softly.

"I'm okay," Iggy said, his voice almost a growl.

"Did you hear?" Max said.

"What do you think?" Iggy spat. He rose, shaking her hand off. "I'm going off to get more firewood."

"Iggy!" Max called after him.

But he didn't turn back.

Me: I needed to get that out of my system, sorry. Jinx says hi to everyone.
Jinx: No I didn't.
Me: Well, too bad, 'cuz in my head, you did. You're just in a miffy(haha) mood because I ate the last doughnut.
Jinx: I happen to like doughnuts.
