Disclaimer: I do not own Inuyasha
My breath was incomplete
And so was my heartbeat
And I was not whole
But today, there is a full moon on the horizon
And with you in my arms
Now I am complete.

The forest was a sight to behold. The sakura blossoms were in full bloom. The forest floor was littered with their petals. A dense shedding of leaves surrounded the now dysfunctional bone-eater's well. A closer look would make someone with a little bit of imagination say that the sakura blossoms had made a path for very delicate feet to trod on.
Nature's conspiracy had begun for it had known that this was the day that all suffering would end, that the person whose arrival had been awaited for these past three years would appear today bringing with her the aura of radiance and purity that had been synonymous with her name. Nature had known ever since she had gone that she would come back, that she was destined to be here, to be with him. Nature had known and made all arrangements to greet her, welcome her back into her shelter but nature had not confided in the person to whom it mattered the most. Hence, the conspiracy to continue tormenting him.
But the time to cease all his sufferings had come.

A breeze carries her scent through the air to him.
Inuyasha stands up stunned, dazed and nervous at the same time.
Dare he believe?
Another gust of wind, blows away all thought from his head except for one word.
Kagome.
Prying the twins off his ears he promptly drops them on Shippo asking them to 'slay the kitsune.'
Within seconds the several hundred metres of forest are overcome and he stands before the very well that had once separated him from her after the world had been free of the tainted jewel.
He is very nervous and hesitant for a moment but her scent is so strong. It calls out to him, embraces him like a warm caress. That evidence is more than enough. She is here. He knows.
He has always believed that she will come back for she was born for him and he too for her sake.
He extends one hand into the well and when her delicate slender fingers wrap around his, he is lost.
Time coagulates literally as he pulls her up gently, very carefully, as though he is afraid she will break if he isn't cautious.
His vision is filled with her form, her solid reality, her beautiful face. He is absolutely thrilled but he is too overcome by his own emotions to show much except for the love he has held, cherished and nourished for her.
Their eyes meet, hers holding back the tears. These tears are different than the ones she has shed when she was away from him. These aren't tears of pain or separation. These are tears of joy, tears of being reunited.
"Inuyasha, I'm sorry. Were you waiting?"
He is spellbound. His mind is yet to register that she is truly here, yet to record that he is truly holding her and when it finally does do that he is overcome. Every fibre of his body responds to her presence, his amber eyes that have become so intense with the swirling emotions try to convey to her eyes every feeling that he has felt for her. They tell her how much he has missed her, how very patient he has been, how long he has waited and how much he loves her.
Unable to stop himself, almost as if it is a reflex action in slow motion he pulls her towards him, engulfing her in his embrace.
"Idiot...what have you been up to?"
A question that wants no answer because he knows that she has also waited for him, waited all this time to be with him.
He is where he wants to be, holding his true love in his arms.
She is where she wants to be, in the arms of the only one she has truly love.
Their tomorrow has begun.
