A Dying Star

Taking in a breath of night air, Riku opened the door the led to his "home." As soon as he stepped in, he ducked, avoiding a beer bottle thrown by his father. He was having trouble standing straight and he swayed often and almost knocked over a flower pot next to him.
"What the hell have you been doing!?" His words were slightly slurred. Riku's father swayed as he tried to stand. "You forgot to... cook.. me.. dinner...you BITCH!"
With that, the drunk man threw the flower pot beside him. Riku's reflexes kicked in and he raised his arm to defend his face from the blow. The clay pot broke on contact and a sharp shard found its way into Riku's arm and created a long, deep cut. When most of the pot shards had settled on their new place on the floor, Riku put his arm down and stared at the new wound on his arm as blood dripped off his fingers.
"Now, look what you made me... do..." his father mumbled as he was knocked out.

"Riku! What happened!?"
Kairi yelled as she went after Riku. He could be so stubborn sometimes.
"Riku, ANSWER!"
"It's none of your business!" Riku growled back as he rushed across the bridge. Leave me alone for once!
"When there's a cut on your arm about an inch deep, it is!" the red head yelled as she grabbed his arm to spin him around. She winced as she felt her finger grazed his wound but Riku didn't seem to react but Kairi could see, out of the corner of her eye, his fingers just twitched.
"I don't see why you care..." Riku muttered as he stared up at the sky.
Kairi bowed her head as she clenched her fists at her sides. "Because...," she started softly, "I LOVE YOU, RIKU! WHY CAN'T YOU SEE THAT!?" She calmed down and slowly muttered, "I love you... And... I want to know what you feel about me..."
"I'm sorry..."
A world without you...
Silence filled the air and what seemed like thunder flashed over head. "Kairi, you should go."
"In a storm like this? I can't go to the main island! Where should I go?"
Riku stood his ground and remained silent.
"Riku?"
Kairi gasped as about three black things sprung out of the ground. They all stared at her. More like her chest. Then, out of nowhere, one leaped at her, passing through her body but the Heartless didn't leave empty handed. As Kairi's Body fell gracefully to the ground, the Heartless, its antenna twitching, opened its hands(or claws) to reveal a soft pink crystal. As the Body and Heart faded the three creatures of Darkness started to whistle. It rang out but only few heard it. They quivered as they heard footsteps and disappeared as they crawled away to the still figure standing only a few feet away.
I should've done something.
"Where's Kairi? I thought she was with you!" the chocolate haired teenager yelled as he ran to his friend.
"The door has opened..."
Kairi, I promise I'll get you back...

"LOOK! A star's going out!"
"Wow..."

Author's Note: I'll let you guys know, this was supposed to be about Kairi and Riku not being able to be together if you didn't notice. The title is "A Dying Star" because the star(Destiny Islands) goes out. I kept getting kicked off the computer so I lost a lot of ideas. If this fic sucks(I mean, does it look like Riku's dad was drunk!? HUH!?). You can flame me and I can burn Ansem some more!
