Hiro never asked for much. He just wanted to play his guitar and to be in a band with his best friend. He did not really care about being famous; that was Shuichi's department. He never expected anything to really change, especially between he and Shuichi. They were the best of friends, together forever, the infamous due of Homeroom B.

Then she had come along. Shuichi had never really liked her, though Hiro had initially failed to see why. She had helped Bad Luck to become a success, bigger than what they had ever dreamed of becoming. Hiro had been grateful for what she had done because it had been what Shuichi had wanted.

Her intentions, however, had not been honourable. Hiro saw that now, saw how hollow her words had been the last time she had been around Bad Luck, but it was too late to try and rectify the situation. He had made a decision, he had promised himself he would stick with it, and he would keep that promise, no matter what.

He glanced at the box of chocolates Shuichi had sent him for Valentine's Day, and let out an exhausted sigh. As much as he missed his long-time friend, there was no going back. The damage that had been done was too great, he hurt too much, and there was no way their friendship could ever be salvaged. She had seen to that.

If only Shuichi would realize it for himself then the two of them could move on. They could try and forget they had ever known each other, that harsh words had never been exchanged between them. It was crazy, but Hiro felt he needed the distance. He had told Shuichi as much with every phone call. Hiro needed something for himself, too.
