'I'm not sure about this.' Draco faced her head on and told her his fears. He was scared for himself and for her. If this went wrong, who knew what could happen? It was always best to plan for the worst but hope for the best.
'Why?' Hermione asked gently. She was scared too, but she knew why. She didn't want this marriage to be like her last. A bad marriage is like a bad party with only two people. The music was always too loud, the jokes always too lame and there was no escape. But a life with him, that's what she was ready for.
'The public will lynch us, your friends will hate us, the media will crucify us, your parents already hate me and what about our kids?' He rarely ranted but when he did, she knew it was serious.
'We are both divorcees. We're not married to anyone. We are free to do what we please. We're not Marilyn and JFK or Bill and Monika or even Jack and Rose. And I'll be damned if we're Scrooge and Belle!' She explained passionately. She was ready for this. She was sick of waiting to get what she wanted and always coming second in her own list of priorities.
'We're Bonnie and Clyde.' He smiled. 'It's us against the world.'
'No because we don't break laws.' She shook her head to clear it and organise her thoughts. 'We shouldn't have to worry about people's reactions. So what if we married other people and had other peoples' children? Here we are, ready to go public, get married and be together until we die. We're Johnny and June.' She ended with a smile.
He nodded in agreement, took her hand and they walked out to meet the media together. 'We're Johnny and June.'
