Becoming the Ghost

He ran after her.

She vanished like a ghost
into the snow.
Stained with blood

And his feet were blue
as he followed.

Only he left prints in the snow
but he chased after the glowing light
that was hers:

His everything.

Even though he couldn't touch her
anymore, he ran
after that shadow, that ghost

Until the rest of the world, and him,
became the ghost.
