God, today was terrible.
It was just another, fine, winter day. At least it seemed that way to Gumi, when it had started out. Then, it just deteriorated.
When she had gotten to class, project that was supposed to be due in 2 weeks (which she had been procrastinating on) was moved up a week. After leaving her class to drive to work, a pipe had burst and froze the road over, forcing traffic onto longer detours. Not to mention, she was late to work due to said pipe-burst. The weather didn't help her mood, having dropped to -35 Fahrenheit, with a surprise snow storm. It was freezing, literally, today.
Gumi hated the cold. So when she finally came home after the exhausting day, covered in snow with fingers numb, she immediately went off to make some warm hot chocolate and completely wrap herself in a cocoon of blankets on the couch to try fend off the cold. There wasn't anything good or interesting on T.V., so Gumi just lay on the couch of her shared apartment room trying to warm up, drinking her hot chocolate. It was gone all too soon, and she was still far from completely warmed up. In a somewhat dazed state, she merely stared off into space, lulled to sleep by the soft tick-tock of the clock on the wall...
Gumi had nodded off into sleep when there was a knock on the door. After a few more knocks, there was a jangling of keys before the lock clicked, and let someone in.
Avanna had just returned from work, a blush under her freckles was on her cheeks from the biting cold. She hung up her yellow cloak, which had guarded her from the cold, on the hanger before scanning the room with her brilliant blue eyes for her normally energetic, carrot-loving, girlfriend.
One glance at the couch, and the lump of blankets on it, told her about the sleeping green-haired girl hidden under three blankets, with her drained cup of hot chocolate on the coffee table.
An amused smile graced Avanna's face as she went over to the couch, observing her sleeping girlfriend, before giving her a gentle kiss on her forehead. She momentarily left to change into something more comfortable for sleeping, before promptly joining Gumi on the couch.
When Gumi awoke later, despite the still very cold temperature, she was warmed to the bone as she watched Avanna on the couch next to her, sleeping peacefully. Gumi wrapped her arms around her girlfriend, before deciding going back to sleep. That project could still be procrastinated on after all.
Hahahaha. I love this pair. And as someone who lives in a very warm and sunny state... can I just say I can barely stand 50 degrees (F)? How do you people live with snow? This is random and idk why I wrote it, it's 12:40 ish and I have somewhere to be tomorrow. Did you know sleep deprivation can cause symptoms similar to intoxication?
