Anam Cara
"Hey Karr, can you-"
Upon entering into the living room, he was met with the heart warming scene of Kitt passed out cold on Karr's chest. His baby brother had his head laid over his heart, his left arm draped over Karr's torso. The eldest had him wrapped tightly in his arms, gently cradling his head with his hand. When he heard Michael, he quickly yet quietly told him to be quiet.
"Sorry," The taller man said apologetically.
"It's fine."
The scene was rather ironic for Michael. Just earlier yesterday morning, the brothers got into a nasty fight with each other. Hurt feelings and hate for the other person ensued for a while. Neither one got within a mile radius of the other. Bonnie was lucky enough to get to experience the fight of verbal assaults. She tried her best to get them to stop, but it all went to hell.
The other three people were beginning to worry that the brothers may never make up. Any attempt to get them to say a word to each other was met with anything from a growl to a colorful insult. Slowly but surely, the others were beginning to lose hope. It was a scary factor that terrified them all. The brothers have come so far with each other. Their bond, that much more. It'd be devastating to lose that.
However, at about mid day today, Karr made the first approach to make amends with his little brother. A tearful, heartfelt apology was heard and Kitt didn't hesitate to throw himself in the other's open arms. Whispering a stream of apologies about the whole thing, his voice threatening to crack. Clinging tighter to each other with each passing moment.
"I'm so sorry, Kitt." The eldest had whispered softly, feeling the youngest bury his face into his shoulder. It didn't take long for him to feel the warm tears soak through his shirt sleeve.
"I'm sorry too." He whispered back. "I never meant any of it. I promise."
Karr felt a tearful smile crawl across despite himself. "I know. Neither did I."
After they had made up, the two refused to leave the other's side. It was as if they thought if they separated, they'd go back to how they were only moments ago. The others were all happy though. They never wanted the brothers to be mad or upset with one another. Kitt and Karr always had each other's backs no matter what.
"What does Anam Cara mean?" Karr asked suddenly, keeping his voice quiet as he was being mindful of Kitt. Michael looked at him curiously.
"It means 'soul friend'. Why?"
Karr looked back down at Kitt with a smile on his face. "Kitt told me that word today. He wouldn't tell me what it meant. All he said was that he felt it described us exactly." He looked back up at Michael. "Guess I figured out why."
Michael chuckled. "You did."
