Zoe walked onto the bridge wanting to talk to Wash about the upcoming job, but discovered her husband to not be where he was suppose to be. She was about to walk out when in the corner of her eye she noticed two of his toy dinosaurs had fallen from their place. She knew that he often knocked them over or dropped them when he was in a hurry to leave the bridge for whatever reasons.

Zoe turned her back to the flight console ready to begin searching for her wandering husband when she again looked at the fallen dinosaurs and walked back to pick them up. Typically Zoe wasn't a neat freak but something deep down inside her had told her to set them back in their place. As she was putting them back where she believed they usually reigned over "This Land" she was overcome with a sudden and uncontrollable urge. She was alone and her keen senses that she'd honed during the war would tell her if someone was coming so she sat in the pilot's seat and checked one more time to make sure no-one was there, then Zoe reached out picking up the Tyrannosaurus and the Triceratops.

She placed both of them in the centre of the console and started moving them around playfully as Wash would.

"Oh no! It's the Amazonian Goddess!" said the Triceratops

"Quickly, we must prepare our defences before she uses her incredible military know-how to kill us all!!" the Tyrannosaurus shouted.

Suddenly the Stegosaurus walked onto the scene minding his own business when the Tyrannosaurus instinctively bit on his neck, "Ah, curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!" and then, he was dead. The Triceratops let out a gasp as she realized what had happened.

"We don't have time for weak herbivores! They'll be the first to go, better to kill them now!" explained the Tyrannosaurus

The Triceratops was grateful that the Tyrannosaurus was too stupid to realize that she to was a herbivore, but it was all too late for...

"Lambie-toes, what ya doin'?"

Zoe shot up from the pilots seat still clutching, the Tyrannosaurus and the Triceratops when she noticed Mal and Wash standing at the door both with wide grins on their faces. She stood there ram-rod straight for a few seconds shocked at failing to notice both the captain and her husband's approach. Well the captain she could understand, but Wash...he didn't have a stealthy bone in his body! Then she remembered she was still clutching onto Wash's stupid toy dinos, she hid them behind her back trying as best as she could to replace them on the console, but failing miserably. Both the Tyrannosaurus and the Triceratops fell to the floor, the two plastic dinosaurs hit the one loose metal grate that Kaylee and Wash left only partly screwed to the floor making a loud clanging noise.

"Husband...you shouldn't leave your toys layin' on the floor, pick 'em up!"

She walked out towards the cargo bay to busy herself prepping the mule, making a solemn vow to sharpen her instincts that had obviously began to dull.

"Cap'n." She said as she walked past Mal.

"Zoe." replied Mal.

As she disappeared from view both Mal and Wash burst into laughter.

"You're a bad influence on your wife, you know that?"

Just a little something I wrote about a year ago that I decided to put up here.
