Hi everybody. I recently just got into the Half Bad series and I can't tell you how much I am obsessed with it. It's very sad that there aren't lots of fics particularly for this series so I thought I'd write one. Warning: Rated T for blood and swearing. Disclaimer: All rights to the Half Bad series go the wonderful Sally Green. I don't own Half Bad. (I wish I did). Enjoy!
I've been waiting for two months now. Waiting and waiting and waiting. If Gabriel was alive he'd be here, wouldn't he? I can't think like this. Gabriel is alive. He has to be. It's still possible. He'll make it. Stay positive, Nathan. Positive.
Here I am, sitting in the cave, crows flying above the forest, oh and it's quiet. I like being out here alone, but I miss Annalise. I miss everything about her. I forgot how it felt to be with her. How—
I lose my train of thought.
Movements. I hear incredibly loud thumping sounds. Could it finally be Gabriel? I freeze. A black figure is hidden partly behind the trees. A hunter wouldn't be this loud and there'd probably be two of them. I get my knife out immediately; the one Gabriel gave me . . .
"You're not going to kill me, are you?" He grins. I recognise his voice instantly.
"Gabriel," I mutter.
I take a step and he runs towards me and holds me tight and I return the hug.
I whisper, "I thought you were dead."
"And I thought you were dead," He says, not letting go.
"What took you so—," I gasp as a sharp pain buzzes up my ribcage, blood spreads all over my shirt leaving a dark stain on it. I clench my jaw and scream as the knife goes deeper.
I whimper, "Je..ssi...ca," I pass out.
I blink my eyes open. I wake up chained to the ceiling of the same cave.
Every part of my body aches, my back is on fire. I try moving and I curse because of how stupid I am. My back starts throbbing heavily as blood pours down on the cave floor. I look at my wound and realise I am not healing, I start remembering everything that happened before I fell unconscious . . .
"Nathan," A voice says, softly.
I start noticing my surroundings. It's dark now, stars materialised amongst the night sky. There's no wind here, it never reaches this far into the forest. The crackling sound of the fireplace comes from the middle of the cave. Another set of chains hang from the ceiling. And there lays Gabriel.
I can barely breathe, blood is everywhere now. I manage to groan as a reply back to him.
He looks almost as bad as I am. His skin paler than usual, his dark hair hung over his eyes, he looked bruised and beaten. "Nathan...She di..did the same thing to me..I'm so sorry," he whispered apologetically. Tears started streaming down his face. "She disguised herself as you.. that's how she knew about the cave."
I mutter, "Not..yo..your..fault."
My heart is thudding as I make out footsteps coming closer to the cave. She's back.
This chapter is short because it is the first one. Don't worry if you guys liked it, I'll make the rest longer. Reviews would much appreciated.
